India : How good for middle class?

If some one knocks the door of your own house one fine day and claims that it is his house that you have been living in and threatens you to vacate.
What are your options?
Now consider that someone knocking your door has some influential connections and can make police stand still using his powers, what are your options?
Some one I know in India faced a similar incident and he is still struggling to fight against it. Not to mention mental and financial torture he is facing to work with authorities even though he has all legal documents needed.
This makes me wonder whether it is worth going back to India for someone who does not have higher up connections and money given the law enforcement and judicial system in India are such a joke. I never thought seriously about this until this happened to a very close friend of mine in front of my eyes.

and why would someone knock at my door without any given history with the transaction? Something is missing somewhere.
It is not that bad. Social media is very powerful these days. All it takes is to stand against the power without the fear of getting killed.

TKahloRivera, historical details are not important here given that you legally own your house. It could be personal rivalry, vendetta, jealousy but how and why should it matter?

By asking "more info", you are fooling that such incidents don't happen in India. OP describes a scenario which can make your middle class life bad.
Two of my father's siblings are facing this for more than a decade -- a tenant is refusing to vacate and the case in judicial court for more than a decade now... for another sibling, someone occupied the land and threatened when asked... both perpetrators have local political backing.

I can't remember social media has done anything for a positive change in India. Can you share examples of "powerful social media changes"?

Incidents happen but that doesn't conclude anything.

I would just say: Your friend is not bold enough (my first reaction) or smart enough to tackle the situation (second reaction).
Why Personal Rivalry...why vendetta..wny jealousy? Your friend must have done something to arouse those feeling in opposite person. Tali ek haath se nahi bajti (always 2 sides to the coin)

How would you have tackled it (assuming you are both bold and smart)?
