Does anyone know if these are easily available now a days in india, particularly bangalore:

1. splenda (sugar substitute)
2. us-style chicken ceaser salad or lettuce itself

These may seem very un-important but since we use them a lot, wondering if they can be easily found there.

thanks

Sugar substitutes and salad dressings are more readily available at stores such as FoodZone, Reliance etc.

You may have to go to specific stores for "exotic" produce.

I have heard Equal (may not be the same brand) - Aspartame is available and was also told that 'Manorama' - the tamil actress, advertises for the same in television.

in hyd and i am sure other metros splenda is easily available...it is made under another name in india but the taste is the same, since it is from the same licensee that splenda is made.

salads, dressings, they ve got a pretty good selection, if u've got a particular dressing which is not too conventional even in the US, then u should bring it along, but otherwise, they r available...

Splenda itself is available in Delhi/NCR ... not in every store but many..you get lettuce and all kinds of salad dressings/olive oils, jalapeno peppers/black-green olives ..same brands and indian brands...I haven't seen pkgd salads yet though...frankly it is very diffcult to assemble a salad for lunch home here:( but you can get it outside eaily.
Since you consume salds a lot..I assume you may be fond of "roasted/baked" stuff ..so will take the liberty pf suggesting to get a good electric oven installed at proper height in the kitchen.

One thing to bear in mind is the risk of eating raw veggies or greens like Lettuce in India.

They are highly contaminated!

We used to eat lot of raw carrots and cucumbers.. We used towash them many times after peeling them...
