A cousin of mine is getting married in India. Any suggestions for a gift that I can take from the US? Both the bride & groom are based in India.

Good point...I should have specified the budget earlier. Would like it to be under $200.

You get
everything in India!
Maybe a digital photo frame or a pair of
perfumes for him and her.

You can buy gift certificate from reputed jewelry stores like Tanishq and similar ones and have them send it to the couple.

Thanks for all the responses...
I would prefer to give something that from the US (and preferably something that lasts for a few years).
I didn't realize that stores like Tanishq offer gift-certificates -- will check them out, if i can't think of anything nice here.
I had given them a digital photo frame last year -- so, that won't be an option for us :-(

What kind of jewelry are you gonna get for Rs. 8,500? Tanishq has high labor charges/high charges for certifying quality and gold prices themselves are very high. You will feel bad after you enter the store, if your budget is $200. You are better off saving $200 rather than going to Tanishq.
For that budget get a corelle crockery set or some high end cookware or some bed set. If I were you I would take them to mall in India and let them shop for it (ofcourse after verifying that nothing in a particular store is over your budget). It will be a good experience that they won't forget. Plus food is yummy. If mall has PVR then go for a movie too.
When budget is low, replace it by some activity which can give provide good experience.

I?m sure one can find almost everything in India that is in US. If you are bent upon taking something from US, a personalized show piece from "Things Remembered", with a nice catchy marriage quote engraved on it (or something to that effect) :) IMO, A nice vacation package for couple would be a good gift. :e

returning_indian;349067For $200? Where?
First NRIs give such responses and then wonder why their r2i fails!
To someplace out of sight from relatives, even if it means going to the neighboring town if the intention is to keep it within budget!
Right, I'm a case of a failed R2I :(
