I always used to wonder as to why affluent Indians with not very strong ties are not leaving India to immigrate to a developed country by using the investment based path. Turns out they are, not as high but still its been going on.
Is one of the reasons this is slow to happen maybe the capital controls which prevents you from transferring millions outside India?
Second one, I am familiar with is, its hard to start a profitable business in a new country. Third one is the most important, familiar people and places are hard to leave, particularly if you are doing better than 95% of the population.
https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/economy/policy/ruchir-sharma-says-he-wont-advise-pm-narendra-modi-on-indian-economy/articleshow/63345309.cmsI have read that rich Chinese also like to immigrate and move their wealth outside China but are prevented due to policies.

Because they have figured out how to make money already, so why would they leave? I dont understand the premise here.
India is not a war-torn country where everyone is desperate to leave. Most people who "leave" India are economic migrants who go outside of the country to make money. If one already has money and may very well be making money right where they are, why would and why should they ever leave?
As for Chinese, I know a lot of them quite closely. Yes they do leave the country but for wide range of reasons. Ill-gotten wealth, relative cheaper real estate, overbearing govt, simply more freedom, to name a few. None of that is an issue in India, atleast so far, especially overbearing govt part.
Btw, Ruchir sharma link is out of place too.

There are tons of Ruchirs roaming around looking to advise Modi. One should stick to what one does best, advising investment to private capital. Leave Indian politics to ones involved in politics. Armchair experts are a plentiful in India.
As for Indians leaving India, I would like to see more detail on this data. There are tons of attractive opportunities for people to invest both in India and outside. Rich do diversify their investments. More insight is needed to analyze this trend of rich people leaving country. I will take it with a pinch of salt. India is best for rich only. Why will they leave?

If the rich move to the west, they have to obey the local laws, have to do manual chores or have to get expensive labor and cannot do khobragade!
In India they can even take their BMWs and go off-road and easily get away with it!
Why would rich want to leave India?

Ill gotten wealth and cheaper real estate is certainly an issue in India. And while the government in India is far more open than that in China, I am not entirely convinced that the lives of upper middle class and up Chinese are impacted that much by government high handedness (I exclude dissidents and oppressed subgroups, who generally have it far worse in China).
That being said, certainly in many respects there are few good reasons for the wealthy and near wealthy to immigrate. In many respects, life in India is very comfortable, far more comfortable than the US since you can afford a lot of servants. These days you can get almost all items and shows that you can in the US (that was not the case around 30 years ago). There is even capital available for startups (not as much as the US, but a decent amount).
Medical care in India is much cheaper than the US, and is comparable in many respects for the wealthy (the exception may be some rare diseases and cancers, for which cutting edge treatments are only available in the US).
There are 2 major things that are much better in the US.
1) Colleges and Universities for top notch research: But wealthier people can afford to send their kids abroad without immigrating.
2) Pollution, which is horrendous in India and getting worse.
Item 2) is something that wealth can relieve only partially (filters, masks etc.). It may become a major factor in the future -- would people really want their kids to suffer all kinds of respiratory diseases ?
I will say that it's also possible that the investor visa has been marketed more in China (by hucksters like the Kushners). Perhaps more marketing in India will see more Indians picking up investor visas. Especially if it's tied to owning real estate in the US, especially in states like NJ,

If one just want a peaceful retired life with quality, there are plenty of countries in Europe which fit the bill. Just avoiding USA, UK, France, Germany would be good. If one has money, wanna move out of India and go to USA then it's stupid. Rather pick some nice, not so populated, Mid size European country. Even Canada would be nice.

In India, Rich People have tons of Black Money stacked in their homes or at secret place but not in bank as WHITE Money. It's difficult to convert lot of Black Money into White Money and that's one of the reason people do not want to invest abroad. If they want to invest $5 Million to get a Green Card in US, then they have to show the money in White first and then transfer legally to USA which is not possible for black money hoarders. Moreover, if they have tons of black money in India, then they may not prefer to do WHITE Money business in WHITE Countries:)) as that's not in their blood to do ethical business taking care of Employees, Customers, Vendors, Taxes et al as most of the corrupt crony businessmen in India (Adani/Ambani/Singhania) will not pay their employees fair wages and treat them badly, will not respect Customers to serve, will not pay Vendors in Time and finally will not pay even Minimal Taxes as their Minimal Taxes will go into BJP/Congress Party funds as Donation:(:( - Very sickening to see so many greedy business people in India.

Maybe they are following their religion which prohibits to travel overseas and want to uphold their jyati dharm
"
osaih—by such faults; etaih—all these; kula-ghnanam—of the destroyer of a family; varna-sankara—unwanted children; karakaih—by the doers; utsadyante—causes devastation; jati-dharmah—community project; kula-dharmah—family tradition; ca—also; sasvatah—eternal."
"
Due to the evil deeds of the destroyers of family tradition, all kinds of community projects and family welfare activities are devastated."

Also, as our PM already said we did head replacement surgery before 2000 yrs.
"As proof, Narendra Modi gave the examples of the warrior Karna from the Sanskrit epic Mahabharata and of the elephant-headed Hindu god Ganesha."https://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/oct/28/indian-prime-minister-genetic-science-existed-ancient-times
We made nuclear bombs for Mahabharat war. They can even cure for cancer through cow urine. Why would anyone leave such a scientifically and socially advanced place?

Where did I bash Modi?
Just say yes or no? Did Modi say the following. Did I say anything wrong?
I am just repeating what he said and praising him. Where am I bashing? But, it shows that you think Modi is a fool and so you think me just referring his speech is pointing to his foolishness, right?
