rajram123;352979All residents can apply for ration card, they don't care if you are US citizen or R2Ied from another galaxy.

My understanding is that you have to be a Citizen of India to get a Ration Card.

Someone here has more info? Links? Please post.

Option One - Dont declare you are USC, get Rataion card - LPG
Option 2 - Go to a LPG dist - they will say all formal rules. Just Listen Talk to them about cost of Stove and any other accessories, tell them you are buying then. This will trigger all the requirement for Ration card go away. They dont make money by dist LPG cylender so help them make some money by buying a LPG stove.

The problme in india _ Chennai many folks will not tell you directly you need to understand them Just like bribe, they wont ask middlemen are there to do the dealing.

Folks,

All that is being suggested in this thread is to cheat Indian System of Ration Card. Right?

Please correct me if my understanding is wrong..

Also, please help me understand why Indian Government should provide a subsidized LPG to a foreigner (including me).

If you consider this cheating then dont utilise it for yourself.

In way if you are IT you/employer are cheating the client as well.
Be real.

I am a US citizen with OCI card. We returned from Pune recently and were able to get a LPG cylinder right away by purchasing a stove from the dealer. We needed ID(PAN card) and address proof (Index II of apartment purchase agreement). Hope this helps.

Quick question. Did they ask you if you were a citizen of India in the application form?

I don't want to start a flame war but
a) There is no concept of non subsidized LPG where I live - maybe in metros. I really dont know
b) you cannot get a driving licence if you declare your citizenship. They don't have a procedure in place. So you have to lie. What else to do
