Why are desi ladies in IT not easy to work with ?
My co-worker, a madraasi lady, is not easy to work with. She's not rude, but inefficient.
Thigs she does that annoy me are:
1. Not keep me in the loop about her interaction with my customers.
2. She's moving onto supporting another business, and did the handover to me like she wanted to wash her hands of.
3. Doesn't respond to or acknowledge receipt of emails.
Not sure if I've mentioned this before, but I 've never liked working with desi ladies. In India they ask for favours and in the US they display their nonchalance. Especially in the US it appears like these ladies work only to make that extra dollar because it seems easy for a desi lady to survive in IT than in other professions.
Ok ladies, bring it on !!!
Please share your experiences about working with desi ladies.
PS. I'm not looking for advice on how to deal with my situation.
PPS. If you're my madraasi lady co-worker reading this post, I want to tell you that you're better off quitting your job and making sambhar for your family at home.

I have seen and worked with some really amazing Indian women, and also some like your Madrasi friend. The smart ones that I worked with are really smart and intelligent and I loved working with them. I admired them even more because I know some of them used to go home and take care of everything without much help from their husbands.
But why do you think only Desi women are inefficient? I've come across some desi men who were real numbnuts. For that matter I've seen some non-desi men and women who were not exactly the brightest bulbs. So I'd have to disagree with your generalization. May be your experience and interaction with Indian women has been limited (at least at workplace), and perhaps you havent come across the right ones yet.

Funny post. Looking for a reaction?
Btw, Indira Nooyi is a madarassi woman.
Blessed is the man that gets a desi woman that can churn out a good sambhar and bring in a six-figure income. :)

"PPS. If you're my madraasi lady co-worker reading this post, I want to tell you that you're better off quitting your job and making sambhar for your family at home."
it is like a free for all, anybody can post any thing without a thought, open a thread on any stupid thing and the rest of the folks just come in and argue over that post/thread.
Mods and Admins, all the best. There are thankless jobs in this world but this one at R2IClub is right up there....

I have not worked with Desi IT woman but one of my best bosses was a desi woman. I really liked working with her, very articulate/efficient/intelligent and a great team player.
G_N,
May be you are not easy to work with to start with. Remember when you point a fingure at someone, the other 4s are pointing at you. (no intentions of giving any advices but a thought came to mind so just blurted out....)

I guess the womenfolk are taking Going_Nowhere from Edisosn too seriously in this case.. Relax. You will know why if you have read his earlier posts.
Read the OP carefully-
Finally asking for experiences about working with desi ladies :)
Can't you see intentional flames to just rub desi ladies on the wrong side? So if you are a desi lady, working (obviously means making no sambhar or less of it) and a 'madraasi', you are better off posting your personal experiences of working with MCPs.. No M there doesn't stand for Marathi! :p

Thig(h)s annoy him
Knowing very well that madraasi is a derogatory term for South Indians, still going overboard using it.
Showing sexist appeal by asking 'madraasi' ladies to quit job & make sambhar at home.
Yeah.. desi ladies ask favors in India and display nonchalance (whatever it means) in US
