Can't provide any investment advice. It is very unstable with money being looted regularly, hasn't yet come of age, has no stability and is yet to live up to its promise. The number of startups burgeoning in this area is just enormous. It is very difficult to chose a winner. But, an utterly fascinating area that shall no doubt take over finance in the near future.

Are you good with technical analysis? If so, focus on *deep* pull backs to support areas and buy. Its 100% gambling and pros will eat you for snack if you are not careful and don't know what you are doing. Just my 2 bitcoins :)

if you had bought bitcoins worth $100 in 2010 it would be worth $75 million now
I regret never buying any all these years
I have just bought one ethereum for $350 as a gamble i bet it will crash now

Its an alternate currency predominantly used for black market dealings like drugs, extortion etc..

And some cool kids want to use it to buy a latte too....

Some countries have legalized it, my guess, they want to know who has how much so that they can follow the money trail(how did you get it) and get to the criminals.

You are hopelessly out of date on this subject.

I have no knowledge in this area. I tried to figure out how cryptocurrencies work and failed miserably. Also, this was my interest some time ago. Shall have to get back into it.

Read https://bitcoinmagazine.com/ and the various sub-reddits devoted to the subject. That's all I can advise. If I come across some interesting reading material I shall post it on this thread.

Your thread has re-invigorated my interest in cryptocurrencies.

I believe cryptos have a great future. Sooner or later they will be a major alternative currency along with normal currencies and gold/silver etc but the million dollar question is which crypto will make it big. Bitcoin suffer from high transaction time ,ether is fast and is second best and who know which one of litecoin, dash, ripple etc will take off. Probable spread your gamble money in these.
