There is a what do I do, what if, scenario kind of thread for everything from winning millions to what question to ask a parting member. How about this? Has anyone been in this situation described below?

You take your laptop to a very important meeting, you are the organizer and you have blocked a large conference room and there are 15+ participants, you are projecting your laptop on the wall, in addition you share your desktop through webex and 35 people around the world are viewing your desktop.

Everyone eagerly awaits your report. Now you switch to the web browser to go to your products page, but an already open R2Iclubforum page, with your most recent post on banter thread show up and the whole world sees it. What will be your reaction? Has anyone been remotely close to this situation? :)

I immediately close it, otherwise people will know my user id. More embarassing moment was this - I was presenting some stuff to global audience and my boss was in the room. My Yahoo Messenger was logged in and I got a message on bottom of the window "Hi I have a job for you in South Bay. Are you interested? ".

Sometime I get a pop up message from Jeannie - "Hey hottie, what are you doing tonight?". I felt like replying, hottie my foot - that was 20 years back. Now it is all pottie (I mean pot belly) :)

Never been in the situation, but the possibility crossed my mind. Pulling network and video cables at once would be too obvious. Best is to click on a New Tab or close the browser and reopen.

Hee hee, brought back oooold memories. In my second or third job, an email froze on the window. I was using the main/console server terminal in a cooold a/c room. I switched off the terminal. There were some groans from around the building as screens blanked and then all went out for coffee. :) This was in my UNIX days.

Looks like you pretty much brought the whole company down for one little email :)

I will say this is the one website I use to performance test my laptop to make sure it will run ok during the rest of the presentation. If my laptop can load this website, I can rest assured it is rock solid :)

Ahem, it was a personal email. I was of marriageable age, these things get around, and soon no one wants to marry the bad girl. :)

------
If the scenario in first post happened to me, I would blame it on husband with a dramatic: "Oh, look what we have here, this is the last time DH gets to borrow my laptop..." :)

I had seen colleagues giving presentations, get so engrossed, and the computer goes off to the screen saver and show something incongruous on the screen behind the speaker. Very often children's pictures. Once I saw a couple of children in their birthday suits jumping across a lawn sprinkler's spray. Photo had caught them in mid-jump. Too young to have learnt to keep knees together for photos. Very nice photo, but quite distracting.

OP: ( #1)

Yaah, it happens ! Everyone is a mere human and makes mistakes.

But for this forum, no worry
since it's clean, no cheap, no high graphics, no vulgar nor any low level of substance/wordings, which makes you to be afraid/ashamed of !

Just say,... it's my regional forum, covers the city, state and locality where I grew up in India and hence was checking for some news - weather / community news / unrest / disorder if any, since my parents still live there.

BTW, I have seen this forum many times on radar of a 'mass viewing'.
Have seen it, that all of a sudden some thread shows the viewing indicator of 165 and prol'y 3-5 minutes later slides back to 9. ( Which tells me, in some conference it was viewed by a mass laptop holders there, suddenly ! )

Best thing is, if you are surfing this from the job's PC,
never type the link (this, or any other links ) in url area, but go to google.com and put in the search words 'r2iclubforums' and that's how go to this or any forum/site, so it's not recorded in any urls visited lists - since some jobs do not allow you to empty temp files or to delete the visited url lists.
I had even seen some american colleagues watching porns from the work PCs at one MNC
but all they did was, set up an e-mail account with that obscene site and subscribed the mails w/ attached photos coming into their e-mail accounts, which they were accessing
and hence no trace records of visiting any B-grade sites.

If you remember,
There had an overall news about 2+ yrs ago, when one banker employee was caught watching porn, red handed all over the USA
since the live TV broadcast interview was ON, when a news reporter located him, indirectly in his camera's viewing angle !! Lol !
