This is not 'how much is enough' but a question on how long should one work..
Is our self worth dependent on how long we work ?

I would stop working if I had enough money but in most cases people continue working long past that point.
Some people hate their jobs but are bored at home without them.
People who don't work are looked down upon, they are seen as worthless and as "not contributing anything to society".

I will work till I drop dead.
I am in my 30s and can get by without working in couple years but I don't intend to stop. My outlook has already changed.
I fear no one(except my wife :P). Work on my own terms. This makes me happy :)

40's been working for almost 20 years non stop...(well 19)...and i am tired. i need a break so bad...i intend to work until DS2 hits college and i am going to call it.
maybe after a year..if i get bored.. i might choose to do some off and on..without Full time...commitments...
I will not equate my "self-worth" to work or $.

Self worth comes from being productive, working to earn money or any other ways. A break is best enjoyed when you get yourself away from your everyday cycle. Imagine if you need a break from your break :)
Bill Gates is a true hero and should be a guiding light to everyone. Spread your knowledge, your wisdom and money(if you can).

After writing a whole damn epic, I realized the main point of this thread is - self worth and work. (moved all that crap to general banter)
Unfortunately(or fortunately) for me work does not provide much self worth, which means I have no qualms about quitting my profession if not for the money.
