Rental apartments near Santa Clara

Post by techynt »

One of my friend has taken a job offer and moving there but seems like its very hard to find a decent apartment.

What kind of rent shall we expect for a 2bed 1000 sft apartment over there?

I am going to try apartmentguide and will update this thread with the results.

I see that 1 bedroom apartments can be had for around $3k/month, around 650 sft.

Depending upon the location, the price will be in the ball park of 3K-3.5K. If you are looking for Cupertino kind of area, it could go upwards of 3.5K for a 2BR/1000 sqft apartment. If someone is moving here for the first time, and with no school going kids, perhaps, a 1BR/600sqft in a location with average rating schools could be gotten from around 2K.

Bottom line, it all depends upon the location requirements.. I have been here in BA all my life since I came here to US (25 years) and housing is one of the most expensive part of the equation.... :(
Good luck to your friend...

This person is new to US and seems like he is new to driving cars. I was thinking that he should not think about saving money but try to keep commute stress low so that he can get his sense of balance w.r.t work/career, cultural adjustments etc ...

So I am suggesting that he can rent in Santa Clara itself, unless there is a location within 30 mins drive or train/bus ride?

To get started I am suggesting he can rent extended stay for 2-4 weeks since it seems reasonably priced and look for apartments based on suggestions by locals over there.

I think 3k/month for rent should be fine since he got a 50% bigger package than Texas. And hopefully bonus will be significant and he can save that for a rainy day.
