Any members from Houston,TX?

I have an offer from Galveston, TX. I don't know anything about Galveston. What are some of the good areas (good school, desi community, low crime etc) in Galveston?

Galveston is not a place to live, you can live in Clear Lake ( which is a 40 minute drive ) and commute to Galveston, the traffic going out is not too bad and coming back is not too bad either. If you are going to be working in the Medical Center then Pearland and Missouri City are good choices. Missouri city has some very good residential area's ( read Sienna Plantation ) and you can get to the medical center in 20 minutes on a good day.

Are there any good apts nearer to Downtown houston? preferably within 20-30 mins drive?
