What do you mean long distance, You will get the Jury Duty summons from your local county only

#2 is correct. You have to live in the same county. I have served as jury member earlier this year and they specifically ask you which county you live in.

Also if you are not a US citizen (not sure about perm residents) you are not eligible for jury duty. If that is so, call them and have them take you off their list.

in chicago there are more courts in a county.

if you are assigned to a court in the same county chances are 35 miles away.
what i mean is asked for closer court house.

Only USCs are eligible. the I guess you need to submit the proof of your status

If a USC leaves the country for an extended period of time, does he/she have to inform the courts to excuse them ?

I am called for Jury duty. I have the option to push it by 10 months. Since I may R2I within few months, I am curious whether any of you still receive jury duty notices after R2I?

if you are USC you are obligated to perform jury duty, otherwise not. you can jury selection and mention that you are intending to relocate abroad. maybe they will not select you that case.
