I am planning to buy a new car in a couple of months now. I have test driven Q5 and X3. I enjoyed the drive on X3 more than Q5, but according to me, the I liked the smoothness of the drive in Q5 and its looks as well. I am kind of torn between the two, unable to make a decision, and hence this post. Members, Please pour in your opinions. Thanks in advance.

I have an X5 and i consider myself to be a car enthusiast. BMW makes better cars that give a good rugged drive feeling. Audi's are like toyota's as they have a smooth drive.

For me Luxury in cars doesn't mean leather and all the bling and lighting. It's the drive and the sound you hear when you shift gears (manual or auto) and you will know this when you are at a stop signal and burn the gas once it goes green. You will know the power of BMW and you will definitely have a smile.

And for some reason you missed on this one.....

Why would you buy a car from a company that has committed the greatest fraud in Auto history? (If you don't know Audi owned by VW and is part of the recall)

Secondly, all the so called luxury cars are nothing more than regular cars with makeup, e.g. Audi is dressed up VW, Lexus is Toyota , Infiniti is Nissan and so on....

The only two exceptions are BMW and MB. As the BMW advertisement says they make only one thing... the ultimate driving machine.

Another deal breaker for me with Audi is that the panoramic sunroof has a thin mesh covering. You can never block the sun....My dark complexion does not need any more tanning...:cool

BMW anytime :) I drive an X4 and it's awesome. I was also in same boat last year, almost sold to Q5 for the looks but when I actually tried it I did not look back at the Q5, it was nothing when compared to the BMW. And now I am happy with the decision made.

I vote for the Audi. BMWs have been slipping of late and Audis getting better.

Audi interiors are tasteful. BMWs not as nice.

Dynamics of both are excellent.

Then, consider image. BMW drivers are jerks. Audi drivers enlightened :)

Consumer reports rates X3 ride to be better than the rest.

after 8 years driving a bmw sedan with stick shift, i went with audi q5.
- q5 quattro awd system is perhaps better than xdrive. but the stock q5 tires are crappy for driving in the snow.
- chose q5 over lexus, bmw, merc
- audi q5 is a great car, great interiors - touch of class, tasteful as someone said.
- my friends sat in it on a 4 hour ride, watched a movie with q5 internet, and said they felt very fresh at the end of the ride. they didn't want to step out when i stopped mid way.
- q5 looks way better than bmw x3/x5 if you ask me.
- when you start adding all the packages audi q5 works out better than bmw x3/x5.
- q5 is fun to drive - very comfortable...i am done with the harsher bmw ride for now.
- driving a suv is different than a sedan. bmw sedan was more tighter to drive, more fun, but suv has a taller ride (so you can't really do those tight cornered turns).
- i simply wanted a different car than what bmw offers.

also check out volvo XC* suvs.

Thanks everyone for poring in your views, we went with Audi Q5 as we got a better deal than on X3.
