You can also visit the parks (hyde park, regent park, green park) in London. Especially in Spring and summer they are very beauitful.

If you looking for an indoor entertainment ( in tune with the nasty weather) you can try things like - museums (eg. Madam Tussades) Ice skating rinks, topsy turvy (for children), snakes and ladders (for children), whacky warehouse et.

There are zoos, animal farms, amusement parks (Chessington, THorpe park)

Outside London, if you want to drive a couple of hours there places like Bath,Oxford, Cambridge,Stratford.

Try this website :

www.upmystreet.com

You can enter you post code and find out places of interest with the mileage you want.

Take the bus tour - in spring/summer you can ride on the open top and hop-on hop-off at your places of interest. We did that once and part of the bus tour took care of kids' nap time!

If you are the walking kind - you can walk all the way from Buckingham palace to London Eye and all places in between.

All places mentioned above are nice -

Westminster Abby might not be especially interesting to kids, but there is so much history crammed into every square inch there - that was the highlight of our visit to London.

When you travel to London by train you can get 2FOR1 entry at many top attractions, theatres and restaurants. Enjoy an exciting day out with friends and family and save money too!

Visit famous landmarks such as Westminster Abbey and The Tower of London and world-class attractions like Madame Tussauds and London Zoo. See an exhibition such as the Daily Mail Ideal Home Show or Tate Britain's Hogarth exhibition. Enjoy a 2FOR1 deal at selected restaurants or take-in a matinee or evening West End show to make your visit complete.
2FOR1 offers are available until 3rd June 2007.
Choosing which great attractions you want to visit has never been easier.

If i am not mistaken there is also a scheme where u pay for ur travel card for the day and see as many places as u want with jump the queue and it can be bought for a day or 6days, but make sure you are familiar with the underground map and the buses. If you master that, this travel card offer works out really sensible. Also, dont forget the congestion charge is £8/day and it has been extended, so don't even think of a car, although with this charge cming into effect parking has become easier in central london, but be prepared to pay 2-10pounds /hour depending on where you park.Oh,here is the website btw...good luck and enjoy

Spent most of the day at Whipsnade Wild Animal Park. Both my kids enjoyed thoroughly. I would strongly recommend the place.
