Glad you are moving to Costa Mesa, CA where I live! Rents are expensive - 1 bed/ba are at least $1400 per month. The old saying, it costs more to live in the better parts within Costa Mesa itself. The prices may be lower in Huntington Beach next door.

Tustin has good areas like any city. One cannot generalize since the "atmosphere" can change in a couple of blocks.

PS: My suggestion is that if you are re-locating, get the company to put you up in a Marriott Residence Inn or something like that for a month or 2. That will give you time to get a feel for different areas, talk to colleagues and so forth.

In tustin, majority of population is mexicans. make sure apt is in a good neighborhood. Even in Costamesa, area nearby to southcoast plaza is good, rest of the city is again mexican dominated.

I live in an area called "bird streets' because all the streets have names of birds - near the country club - no through traffic. Very nice neighborhood as is the one near South Coast Plaza.

I stayed in Costa Mesa for almost 3 years at "The Lakes At South Coast -- 3400 Avenue of the Arts" -- was a very nice complex close to the South Coast Plaza -- as mentioned by the others, Costa Mesa is on the expensive side, and this complex is at the higher end-- but you get what you pay for in terms of a good ambience and good maintenance. Otherwise, the best would be to simply look at a site like rent.com and search in your price range.

I do not have any idea about this particular apt complex other than:

1. It is on a very busy main street.
2. It is very near to car dealerships
3. It appears to be old.

PS: If you want I can get you some names nearby of apt complexes - but, the rent is going to be $1500 pm for 1bed/bath
