I am currently working for a tech firm (MSFT/AMZN/GOOG types) in India as a starting software developer for the last 1.25 yrs ( 2011 grad). I am looking at a possible move to Seattle with the same firm at the same position (L1B).
I am currently making ~13lpa and the offer I have is ~95K base + decent RSU ( 15-20K per yr). I believe I am kind of losing out on the offer due to internal move and have to decide whether to go ahead with this or wait for H1B and try for other companies in the same group.
From various tax calculators, I believe I will be paying ~25K in taxes, social security, medicare which reduces my take home to 5.8K/month. Are there any other deductions (401K ?) above this ?
I wanted to get a ballpark figure on the expenses in Seattle (no spouse/kids, downtown preferably) to live comfortably. Also I am a veggie (+dairy/egg) and hardly know cooking so wanted to know how difficult it be to in Seattle.

this seems to be a good offer for the seattle area. i dont think you are getting a bad deal for sticking with the same employer.
there are plenty of options for veggie food in the area. expenses depend on your lifestyle, but for a bachelor 2000 per month would be enough for a comfortable lifestyle, everything included. it is easy to find examples of people spending less or more based on personal tastes, travel etc.

It's decent offer and ur take home should be some where 6000 $ plus. what about medical insurance contribution. there is no state tax and cost of living as your single won't be much. depends on ur spending and whether ur going for sharing acccom. I am not sure about rents in downtown area. there won't be many restaurants, but if you stay in Bellevue or Redmond area (most of the indians works in Microsoft stay here) there are curry points.
Even in Bothell, there are some home made food service.

Your salary is on higher side considering your 1+ yrs experience.

Thanks for the replies guys... From what i gathered, the offer is pretty much consistent with what US grads make right out of the college except the joining bonus part ( 25K-30K over 2 yrs) which is missing out due to the internal move although they have partially compensated it with RSUs.

not sure about medical contribution. Just used this
http://www.paycheckcity.com/coadp2/netpaycalculator.asp which shows 5.85K in hand/month with 95K base.
I will be in downtown near SLU area :)
