Beware of Emails from Axis bank and HDFC
Posted: Wed Jan 09, 2008 2:51 am
Hi,
I hope some of you may have bank a/c in UTI (now Axis Bank). I got an email couple of days back to enter my credential to renew my a/c from Axis. E-mail sender has the same axisbank.com domain. I thought it was genuine and about to enter my information (User id, Password, debit card, etc). However, to double-check I saw the address link, and it was different ( http://www.fpugb.org/bbs/data/book/bbsco.htm ) and I carefully avoided entering there. Thank God, I am technical person :)
Then I immediately escalated to branch manager of UTI and got the following respense. I wonder how they got customers email list. Also I get similar email from HDFC, though I do not have a/c but I registered once to open a/c. I am thinking insiders sell the customer information.
If you click the above fraud link, you will feel you are in axisbank site (we can view the same warning message crap).
