Its that time again for me to think about selling AAPL. I started accumulating the current lot in late 2012 to early 2013 period, my average price is 70.45. About 30% of it is in Roth IRA rest is in trading. I R2I'ed earlier this year and should be RNOR for 2015 and 2016, so i can wait a year to book profits if needed.
Here is the trillion dollar question, when should i sell?

Cash is better than AAPL going down. there is no easy answer to this question. If you looks at the top analysts following AAPL, they are divided over where this thing is headed. Take your own call. That way, you have yourself to blame if things go the other way - instead of some strangers on these forums.

I am perfectly fine with your current position that you prefer being in cash rather than stock?
So shall we go 100% cash or there is some other investment where we should invest after selling AAPL (that was the intent of my question to OP)?

No. You are right. We are on the same page here. Once you have the cash, you should be looking to reinvest. Inflation waits for no man.

I wish I could give you any specific advice. It's all about perspectives really. I am not a big fan of stock picking. But if (and that's a big if) you do believe AAPL has hit the ceiling, then almost any other other investment that you think is going to go up is a good deal. If you want to play safe, get some ETFs. With the Feds hesitant to raise the rates and the economy back on track, the equities are as good an option as anything right now. Just my opinion.

based on what analysis did we arrive to the point that AAPL has hit the ceiling? (my opinion: I have no idea about the timing, it can go up another 40-50% more from current levels in next 2-3 years or go down 30-50%)

That is precisely why I said IF. I don't think we have concluded that AAPL has hit the ceiling. I just said, IF the OP thought it had, then what I said makes sense.

I don't have anything specific planned to invest the cash in. I will probably sit on the sidelines and wait for a fire sale in good companies. And of course buy an unlocked IPhone 6 :)
