I recently moved to Blr. I am transferring money to India to eventually buy a house ( within next one year). In the meanwhile what are the options for maintaining these funds?
The requirements are:
1) Reasonably risk free
2) Should be able to withdraw funds at about 2 weeks notice.
3) Ease of use ( hassle free deposits and withdrawal)
4) Maximize returns ( of course).
Basically I am looking for an India equivalent of short term bond funds or money market funds in USA.
If you have any recommendation and experiences to share please mention them here.

Most of the banks have option to keep all your money in CDs of 1000rs units linked to your Savings account. You will be able to earn better interest rates. if you withdraw they will only break the partial amount CDs. Beware of penalty charges on premature withdrawal... choose a safe time period and select reinvestment option.
