Would appreciate if you can let me know the approx range of salary/ perks that a senior project manager with around 15 years of IT experience can expect on long term assignments to the US from India through Indian companies like Infosys/TCS/Wipro/Ramco etc ...
How different are these salaries compared to the local US companies in general?
Does it make financial sense to relocate from India to US thru such companies in the present scenario?
Thanks in advance for your inputs since they would really be useful.

I was approached by Wipro recently for a job opportunity. I'm really sick of their recruiters - no communication skills. They ask stupid questions like "what is your status?" - as if i'm supposed to guess that they want to know about my work authorization status.
Anyway, they called me twice on the salary issue, trying to negotiate.. the second time some stupid girl called me (supposedly a lead recruiter) ..
stupid girl: "sir i don't know if the client will be willing to pay that much"
DBN: "how much is the client willing to pay?"
stupid girl: "i don't know sir"
DBN: "then how do you know that the client won't be willing to pay that much"?
stupid girl: "i don't know sir"
DBN: "What do you know? you approached me for this opportunity, you must know something about how much the client is willing to pay - right?"
stupid girl: "O.K. sir i'll try to find out and get back to you"
I banged the phone down. She's on my ignore list now.

If you seek atleast a bit of professionalism, just run away from TCS, WIPRO, Infosys & Satyam as it's not suitable for one who is working abroad for more than 10 years as we all know how the companies in west operate. At the same time, I am not supporting Big 4 companies where they might seem to be professional, but the real work is not executed there except filling tons of documents and processes just to bill client eventhough the pay and administration aspects are good.

Big 4 are just as bad except for the pay. Its just that Big-4 has native-english speakers (HR Dept) that make the Indian firms look worse in comparison.
I have friends who have been doing miniscule work for years with Big-4 and draw huge paychecks. Get into Big-4 if you have to choose between them and Desi firms.

How about Ramco systems?
What is the ballpark salary that Infy/Wipro/Ramco offers for long term onsite assignments for some one with 15 years IT experience (senior PM role)?

Since you are asking ...I know about a known PM in Cognizant - 75k/annum....that is what a junior H1B (even with 1 year exp in US) can make... my suggestion is try to get here in H1B and transfer and jump to companies like Deloitte (u will get offers 100k + if you are real good technically/mgmt exp)
Agree with all the senior members DBN, Loveindia that Indian companies are worsttttt !!!specially after working in US (u know what work is ....not like the headmaster type managers in indian companies ,even ibm india included ,where people think sitiing upto 10 pm is good output..sucks !!!) and the worst thing ....communication sucks from all depratment.

Are you saying that a senior Project manager in CTS will earn around 75k per annum in the US whereas a junior will earn the same if he works in a local US firm?
Thanks in advance..

About the 75k/annum..... It depends on the city you live in. If you're in a city where the rent of a 1000 sq ft higher end apt in 800$/month, that's a pretty good salary.
