Book reading suggestion for holidays(for a 2nd grader).

During the holidays I am planning to read a fiction book together with my son who is 2nd grade now. This is just to spend some time with him and at the same time help him in book reading and other skills.

Any recommendations on which book to choose?

So far I am not a big fan of reading books, any suggestions are welcome. Is Harry Potter book too much for a 2nd grader?

We take both our kids to the public library and let them pick books. I like the fact that we can pick unlimited (like 20+) books at a time. They feel empowered, and get decision making skills when they pick the books. I just provide some suggestions, when asked. Also, you will know some books will be a certain hit. If your child loves Star Wars game/movie, a Star wars book will certainly be a hit. Some words may be hard, but you can also teach a 2nd grader how to use a dictionary. You can help after they have tried the dictionary.
