Another reason to appreciate freedom that we have, here in USA (and in India too)...

Will you see the following in India? Last time I checked Union Carbide executives are enjoying life. Not that I am condoning the Chinese Gov.

Several dairy industry figures were prosecuted and punished, including three people given the death penalty.

The general manager and chairwoman of Sanlu, the company at the heart of the scandal, was given a life sentence. Dozens of officials, dairy executives and farmers have been punished for allowing the contamination to take place.

modus_vivendi;346445Freedom in USA? yes, we have that. But here's news from the other end of the freedom spectrum:

San Francisco crack down on McDonald Happy Meals

If I am ordering a Happy Meal at a McDonald's drive-thru, I expect to get that and drive away with a happy child : ). Leave my child's nutritional responsibility to me.

San Francisco happy meals to soon be sad.

Might be a hijack, but you mentioned 'freedom in the U.S.A' ...

You have the freedom to not elect those board of supervisors. :)

And... also have a freedom to express your disagreement... and have a freedom to organize a protest march to express that disagreement... and have a guarantee that you will not go to jail for 2 1/2 years for doing this....

Even if you go to jail.. R2IClub members have a freedom to express disagreement with your jail term.. and have a freedom to organize a protest march to express that disagreement... and have a guarantee that we all will not go to jail for 2 1/2 years for doing this....

#4, #5, My post was supposed to be a sarcastic one 'from the other end of the spectrum' that people here have too much freedom and we need such 'laws' that ban happy meals.

Agree on all points - we can protest, no law against protesting and so on.

The thread was primarily about China and general freedom or lack thereof.
Why do you bring India and Union Carbide in this?
Why are you always down on India?

PS: Sorry mate couldn't resist. :))

You may be responsible, but sad part is McDs and KFC's fried chicken sandwich have become staple diet for many especially the poor and the entire nation pays for the obesity and related diseases.
Not to talk of the global warming due to the bovine explosion.

If at all something has to be banned, I would rather lock up the fast food joints and release Mary and Joanna back into the wild.

I would buy a dozen everyday and send it to him if he promises to eat it daily.
