Congratulations, Desi and Rajesh. Keep up the good work !

Desibabu,
The article says you are retired and current age 52. Can you tell me when did you retire and how do you feel retiring early in US? ( Ignore this, if too personal)

Desi,

I printed this, somehow it doesn't print the entire page and the online jpeg is not really readable.

kalpesh145: How were you able to read it?

Thanks.

Kalpesh,

I retired five years back. I am enjoying life. I travel to India almost every year for anywhere from 4 to 12 weeks. I travel locally somewhat (next week, Montreal) and right after I retired RRK gave me a new job:emteeth: .

I miss work sometimes and at other times I have toyed with the idea of a business also, but then quickly dropped it as a business will tie me up much more than my work did.

VRG, move the cursor over the jpeg image after clicking and opening it, the cursor will change to show a "plus" sign. Click once more and it will magnify the image.

This is great news for NRI.
Several of them are not aware of the options and tax implications of investing.
Members may know Farida has earlier contacted several of our r2iclub members and she has written an article earler about r2i issues.

I think she tried to contact 1-2 other members of this forum who provides financial help to members. I am not sure whether she was successful.

Farida,
Thanks for highlighting the great service provided by this forum.

Desi & Rajesh,
Thanks for taking time to provide your suggestions and important investment / tax tips to complete this article.

Having a job so one can afford medical ins. is for mere mortals like you and me. Desi retired because he achieved FINDE and does not have to bother for peanuts like health insurance :-)

>>>How do you manage medical insurance in US without job

Is it possible to buy private med insurance after 50? I thought you fall under high risk category and insurance co will not take the risk.

After 65 medicare will take care of your medical expenses. What are the options for people between say 50 and 65? (other than work and FINDE)

Yoga, cow urine, ayurveda, homeo stuff and most importantly, the continued benevolent smile of Lady Luck! :)
