Are there any NRI set ups providing structural analyses, design and drafting services to US clients? Our company in US is interested in exploring this option. If you have any information, please send me a personal message with contact information.
Thanks

Hi,
Now that I have r2i'ed (great!), I have a question that I haven't found any answers for:
Where do I find good quality 240V->110V Transformers in Bangalore? I live in Indiranagar, if that would help narrow down choices.
Most electrical shops seem to be small hole-in-the-wall operations and I worry about the quality of their product. Are there specific brand names to look for? Do UPS companies like APC, Luminous, etc., make these? Do they come incorporated with voltage regulation and surge protection? If not, I do have some 110V surge protectors that I carted from the U.S., so I guess I could wire them like so:
wall socket -> voltage regulator -> transformer -> surge protector -> appliance
I would need a few of these, of varying capacities.
Thanks!

I don't have the phone number handy but Universal transformers on SP road is the best one. Give them a call and give your specifications. They will tell you what is required for that and how much will be the charge. They even deliver it to your place for a charge(I paid around 150 rupees). Their service is pretty good.
Yellow pages might be your best bet for finding the phone number.

You can go to BVK Iyengar Road, there are zillions of electrical shops
available. If you go little inside the small streets, you will find whole
sale shops which will have all kinds of electrical needs.

The number I have for Universal Transformers is 22223479. Called up yesterday morning and had them delivered at night. 1 kW was Rs. 2250. There was a small delivery charge.

Where can I find a good sofa (furniture in general) in Bangalore; the quality being comparable to something in US? What could be the possible cost? (I know it varies but if some one can give a price of any one kind in comparision to what one can find in US, that will be great). The company might pay for relocation, so I am trying to make a choice between buying it in US vs. India.
Thx

I was able to find very few places for good furniture. There are several furniture stores but the quality is not that great. Here are few for Sofa -
1. Stanley Boutique - Be ready to see some big ticket prices. 1L for recliner sofa. 2.5 L for sectional one(varies by the leather you choose). I hear that all big shots usually go to them. They are known for their quality leather. You can get it custom made as per your requirements. This is in Indiranagar - 100ft road.

2. Lazboy - Right next to Innovative multiplex. They had some good ones. Prices were close to Stanley.
3. Home Stop(I think) - Right across Garuda Mall. This is part of Shoppers stop. They had a nice recliner sofa set for 1L. It was leather. I like this store...they carry some nice stuff..
4. There is one across Forum mall. Forgot the name... something Home... They had few good looking ones but quality was OK.
Hope that helps. Happy shopping.
