Anyone bought iPhone ? What do you think of the device?
I am thinking of buying ( now that it is just $400) since it gives ipod, phone and internet in one device, as I am having to go to three devices to get them almost everyday.
Is it possible to download stuff like - audiobooks, bob brinker moneytalk on demand, podcasts on the phone and listen to them? How easy it is to do so?
Thanks

You probably find no experiences of i-phone here. Indians are savvy buyers, they know the price is going to fall in a few months. :)

You should wait for some more time. You will see more clones and look alikes at cheaper price in the market.
Regarding the usage questions, I am sure that there will be 100s of other forums where you will get a response to your question.

My sister-in-law has one and I had a chance to play with it. I was simply amazed with the touch screen interface and the ability to quickly browse through your music collection or address book. The ability to zoom in and out and browse the internet is also very different from the traditional interfaces in the palm or blackberry. Overall I liked it way better. Only thing lacking in this device is a GPS. Till then you have to look up directions on google or msn maps.

And by that time the world would have moved on to newer more fancy product.
I am personally stuck in the 90s and prefer to sing my own music :-)

Not only that, in just 6 months Apple will come out with a "new generation" of the i-phone, making the current one seem like an expensive paperweight - and no point buying even then, coz in yet another 6 months there will be a generation 3.

Absolutely right. I don't even have a cellphone. I have an ipod shuffle which I got free. I am still alive and kicking. Only thing is I did not get the $100 store credit which again I have to spend on expensive Apple gadgets at double price. I can live with that.

Just wait for G-Phone in coming months by Google which I hope will beat I-Phone in many aspects especially pricing:eek:

I believe i-phone does not support text or multimedia messages. If this is true then i-phone is a big no-no for usage in India. SMS capability is a must for any phone to be used in India.

I believe those points are not true. You can be on a standard AT&T/Cingular phone plan and use i-phone which allows you to send text messages and images. But I think you have to pay an additional $20 if you want to get internet access so you can use e-mail. The i-phone has a virtual onscreen keypad which some may not like. But I really liked it.
Also all desis dont think alike. At least I hope not.
