Things to do in Hyderabad

Post by AndhraBabu »

Any suggestions about places for outdoor activities on a weekly basis?

-- Play with 7-10 year old kids. Not seen anything close to Hitech city. Shilparamam is OK... but is crowded most of the time.
-- Any hiking places near to hyderabad

Any interesting places to see around Hyderabad for a newbie?.

Andhrababu,

I'm talking of Hyderabad - 8 years back, so there is a chance that lot would have come up after that:

- Birla Mandir: Very famous, in the city, you get to see the panoramic view of Tankbund
- Mahankali Temple: Very famous, 400+ years old, most famous during Bonalu [August/September], O ya, if your kids love firew works, they r available round the clock there
- Sanghi Temple: not very famous, out of the city, but its worth a city, if you wanna go for a long drive
- Mecca Mazjid: Very famous, in the city,
- Charminar: Very famous, dont miss chudi bazar, preferably go here with a good taxi driver and ask him to bargain it for you, you get pearls, bangles, Athar at a very cheap price here
- Golconda: This was actually Hyderabad[then Bhagyanagar], I can tell you the whole history, but its better to google, o yaa, some engineering marvel it is, like, when a person miles away claps because of the sound system, you can hear inthe top of the fort, similary, Engineers are still surprised at the irrigation system that sumps water from a low lying area upwards
- Industrial Exhibition: Dec/Jan, watch out, and keep your cash read :D
- Gandipet: Will not advice to venture out with family, but heard a lotta theme parks have come accross it, may be a good spot to visit
- Shameerpet: Same as above
- Indra Park: In the city, try few boat rides with the family
- Ramakrishana Math: If you are spirutal minded, dont miss this, Its fabulous. They used to give free food then, dont know if that offer is still open
- Abids shopping Centre: Name says it all, in the city centre
- British Library: Its like you pay 200 rupees, you get the best of the books for the kids and the British culture, I recommend this highly
- Ramoji Rao Studios: Where films are made, visit paris, rome, any place on the earth by just visiting here :)
- Zoo: Name says it all
- Salarjung Museum: Dont miss a man who comes outta house every 1 hr and literally rings a bell, the robotics existed ages ago, this is one of the testimony, ooo yaa, there is a quiet a bit of rush there, so u need to go well in advance!
- Nehru Bala Samiti, next to assembly hall, good for kids to learn good handicrafts
- Ride to Budha Statue: good place to visit for evenings, after bomb blast, i wouldnt recommend, but if I were you, I'd go...what the heck
- Planetorium - next to birla mandir, will invigorate the scintific sence in kids!

Hello,
Yes, you may visit Keesargutta 32 Kms. from Hitech, Anantgiri Hills (Vikarabad)around 75 Kms.(This journey would be interesting), If you like to go a bit long - Nizam Sagar is a very nice and not a crowded place for a nice weekend.
