Pune Guide - Info about Pune for non-Pune'ites

Post by akjakj »

I am going to r2i Pune in Feb 08. I would appreciate info from pople about pune

1. In terms of rent 2/3BD
2. General cost of living

I will b working in the HIndwaji area. So would prefer to rent out in that area only.

Overall is Pune same in term of cost as compared to Blre or is it less?

I am going to r2i after 9 yrs in US. My CTC is 18-19 L. I have 11+ yrs of experience and work in the ERP field.

Thanks

Congratulations. There are plenty of flats to rent in the area you are returning to. Some forum members may be able to rent their properties out to you as well.

Cost of living and rent in Pune is much lower than Bangalore. Much guess would be 75% of Bangalore (others feel free to correct me).

Hinjewadi is not a developed area by any means, so you may want to choose an area that is relatively closed yet developed so that you have access to your every day needs (groceries, entertainment). Would be best to look up that area on wikimapia and plan accordingly. Also try to find local folks within your network who know the area well and ask for their help.

Your offer looks solid so you should have no quality of life issues. Good luck and enjoy Pune.

Thanks for a response. 75 % less than Blre seems unreasonable to me :)- But I will take the same if it turns out to be real.

Any one on this forum who might be interested in renting out their property. Please let me know.
It is good to know my offer is decent. Becuase salarys in India are really skewed at this stage. It looks to me that everyone has an opinin about salarys and what one can command.

However from what I have seen it is not that easy to get offers above 20L.

75% of Bangalore, not 75% less than Bangalore. Huge difference there.

I said your offer is solid, not decent. Again, huge difference there as well.

Good luck.

akj,

I have sent you a PM regarding renting out property. To access PM, login, goto List Messages -> Inbox. It has my contact information.

I had posted details of the property on this forum on "Buy / sell / rent property" thread, but that seems to have disappeared.

Thanks.

Areas near Hinjewadi to check out are Wakad, Baner, Bavdhan. Don't have any first hand experience but you should not have difficulty finding flats to rent there.
As chicago_desi said, hinjewadi is not developed at all. So is Wakad. Baner, Bavdhan are little more developed.
Congrats and all the best. Please keep us posted on how the move goes. Am planning to move mid year.

We are r2ing to Pune @ Feb 2010. We are planning to visit Pune this nov-dec for house hunt and possibly buy one. I am currently looking at some websites that post properties for sale. I am looking for pointers from experienced buyers out there. Also is it better tolook for internet deals or go thru a real estate agent ?
