Is there a specific brand to buy for Stainless Steel mesh for mosquito shutters. I did not want to go for Saint Gobain as they don't manufacture SS mesh. When I called to find out from other places, they say that SS MESH range starts from Rs 25-Rs 80. Any specific brands , anything to look for before I get these mosquito mesh for the shutters.

vwbuggy and others - any inputs appreciated. I need to buy them by this week. thanks

Kannan - My architect does not prefer St Gobain Fiber mesh because squirrels and rats can apparently bite them! If you are in apartments its ok but when you have a garden etc they do not recommend it. My hubby's brother who is in Bangalore also put SS mesh and its very easy to clean and maintain. I found it to be true because my backside neighbor spent quite a bit of money on this mesh thing and in 2 weeks, squirrels/rats bit them. In our current construction, we have shutters (similar to window shutters) done by carpenter. We plan to just fix the SS mesh in them and operate like windows. Roll shutters are fine and you may want to check if you can get SS mesh on them.
Again, this is my feedback who is totally new to construction. (first house!). Inputs pls. thanks

Take into account cleaning. Shutter mesh is not necessarily easy to clean or hose off.

Seenu, a better option is gypsum board, which costs around Rs 45 per sq ft including installation. Gyp (as gypsum is called in local parlance) gives a look similar to what you see in the US. POP should cost far less (may be a third or fourth as much) but looks cheap.

seenu, this thread should have pretty much all related info to tiles. You can check for good tiles at Kajaria world @Kotturpuram , FCML@Nungambakkam, , Nitco tile showroom at T.Nagar, Vaigai sanitation @Mylapore all have a variety of tiles including RAK tiles. Other brands are Somany tiles and Asian tiles. You can visit the showrooms and decide. Vaigai will give a range from least to expensive.

Again sanitary ware - you have different price brackets. You can choose Jaquar. The showroom is at Capital towers. Parryware is common but people prefer jaquar for the service.
High end ones can be found at Roca and Kohler showrooms. We went mostly with Kohler. You also have Crabtree bath fittings etc.

There is another thread for Modular kitchen. Check it out at http://www.r2iclubforums.com/forums/showthread.php/2299-Modular-Kitchen-Chennai
All details regarding type of wood and what is good etc are there. I chose Spacio.
