Junior Vikatan--25.1.89

Question : Has "Nothing But Wind" lifted from Zamfir's music (Birds Of Feather)?.
IR's response : Everyone including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra have appreciated the music. Btw, you seem to know so much about music what are you doing in CBE...why don't you go to US? (Isayil ivvalu vishayam therintha neengal en kovaiyile irrukeerkal, America sella vendiyathane)

The question was asked by yours truly. Till today, I don't know if the above answer was a praise or a rebuttal. My music knowledge was zero then and it's probably negative now. Who cares?. I got my name in print for the first time and answer from my idol. To top it, got my first earnings of Rs. 20 from Junior Vikatan. I did come to US in 2000 (as IR had predicted).

When Reacher had mentioned about 641 014 this came to my mind because the question was posed from 641 044 (Avarampalyam, Coimbatore).

One more useless post...but my 1,000th as I had promised earlier in one of the H&B threads.

Now you know the real reason why I support IR so much and oppose ARR:).

FFH,
I thought the real reason was music... :)

FYI, the enlightenment I referred to is the great "lift" by your idol that you brought to light... thank you for that. And I hope Love-India will be enlightened by your post :)

Of course it is IR's music too. :)

Spoken like a true ARR fan. As for the "lift" that question was just based on hearsay, I had never listened to George Zamfir before that question (I should have had added a disclaimer in that post). Apart from lead instrument being flute in both cases, there is no similarity. I found out later.

So, it's still IR all the way.

Note : I mentioned that hoping that I would be able to find my classmates/friends (whom I am not in touch) from this forum. Let's see.

One of the greatest BGMs ever from IR. Though this was later used as a Tamil song, this BGM somehow sounds much better.

Long overdue. Should have got in 1985 after Sindhu Bhairavi. Padma Vibhushan is very late. Hope he is conferred with Bharat Ratna soon.

Ilayaraja has composed some fantastic songs for Kannada and Telugu movies during his peak SPB has sung a lot of songs with I.R. These compositions were not used in any of the Tamil movies..Unfortunately the Tamil cinema audience is very closed and dont watch other language movies ( unless they are dubbed in Tamil ! ) and I think they have missed out.

Why do you say that? My parents hardly watched tamil movies but they watched Sankarabharanam. We watched it in a small town of TN. Good Malayalam movies are watched by tamil audience. Good movies are watched irrespective of language. But, at the same time if there is a masala movie in another language which is of the same type or quality of a tamil movie there is no need to watch even if it had fantastic songs.
Also, when I was in Bangalore I listened to so many kannada songs. I was a big fan of Hamsaleka. Like that Tamils living outside would listen to other language songs as well. There is good music talent in all languages.

I doubt it. Illayaraja would have used it in one of his compositions in Tamil. You think we have not heard this song in Tamil?. :)
