2010- School admissions in Hyd

How is everyone dealing with the second language issue? My kids can speak some Telugu. Hindi is out of question. Are there schools where second language is optional? We are contemplating r2i in 2011 or 2012. My kids will be in 4th and 1st grade.

We were in the same situation as yours, my son is going to be 4yr 5months+ in June and we decided to go with Chirec PP1.

We're applying in Future Kids school in Hyd. My daughter will be 8yrs on May 1 and she goes to 3rd grade here; but Future Kids says since she's not 8yrs 6months as of June, they can give her admission only in 3rd. Is this age criteria only schools' policy or is it mandated by CBSE/ICSE board? Any feedback on Future Kids, Glendale Academy , Nasr Girls/Boys school is appreciated. Does my daughter stand a chance to get into 4th in any good ICSE school in Hyd.?

Please help; we are in the same boat as 'Alka':

- Mother and kids moving to HYD in May'10, Father joins in couple of months
- Younger son applied to ICE/PPI and the older one applied to ICE/Class III
- Scheduled overseas proficiency test for Class III and Interaction test for PPI over webcam!
- Arranged with the local public school to administer the test for Class III

Can any parent who've similar experience (likes of 'abttime', please help us understand what to expect (scope of syllabus) with the written test please? Our anxiety and the "fear of unknown" whether our son will make the test is killing us! any help with any useful links/references will be tremendously appreciated.

Hi, We have gone thru this process for class 4. We don't know the syllabus but my daugther read / worked on Indian 3rd grade books (math & science). I know this may not help much, but kids are smart and they get thru this. We worry as parents more. Good luck.

It feels nice to get in touch with people who were/ are in the same boat as us (feels less lonely and scary :)).

Alka, I hear you, we too were kind of scared when we took the final decision but thanks to this forum alone, we felt elated after few days of following. It is certainly a great community service the founders of this forum had in mind and it is paying off. Well, to be honest with you, we are still little bit restless with the whole move situation. Anyway, good luck to us and hope to meet y'all some day at some R2I social event in Hyderabad!

"one restless parent " covers it quite well :). My parents are in Hyderabad and as my dad says our generation worries too much for nothing. Kids are much more adjusting and accomodating than us adults. So I am hoping and praying that the whole move goes on smoothly.

Maybe this has already been discussed - I am not able to see it. Has anyone explored Kendriya Vidyalaya (was a good school when I was growing up)?

There are quite a few other international school in Hyd. I know few of my friends kids who go to Oakridge. If you are planning to give the low focus on academics and focus more on other stuff then Oakridge is a good school but not after 10th grade for various reasons. Check out Glendale international , chirec .

We are moving to Hyderabad in June-2010. I know it sounds crazy however due to job situation entire family is moving to Hyderabad.
I have two daughters one in X grade and second one in 4th grade in USA. Both are born and brought up here.
I would like to admission requirements for X grade. Any help I will really appreciate. I searched forum however I could not find specific answer.

Also is it too late to get admission for XI grade in Hyederabad for school year starting from June-2010.
