Raj's R2i Journey (r2i to Pune)

Post by rajbulland »

I am back......been a while since I posted my experience during these last 4 months. So here I go......
First and foremost the experience so far has been wonderful. I had expected a tough time (for which I was prepared) but frankly had nothing as such. We are more or less settled except a few wrinkles that are being straightened out.
Social life here is amazing - something that I missed out during my 33 years of self exile. After taking a self imposed break of 4 months I have actively begun exploring job/business opportunities.
During this break of 4 month we had been for a short break to North India, a week in Goa.
Job wise I have not yet started in full swing. I am getting my resume profesionally done and then will actively look out for one. Business wise I have a couple of established organizations who want to start business from Canada and want to retain me on a consulting basis. I, in fact, started with one but somehow the enthusiasm from them did not match my initiative. I am planning to set up my own business catering to NRIs from USA/Canada/UAE. This business will solely help folks who are not able to do things in India, particularly pune. Any and every work will be taken care of whether property related, utilities, buying/selling properties, managing properties, legal matters and in fact anything under the sun. During my 33 years away from India I faced lots of difficulties in getting important things done in India even though I had my close family here. I am very keen in setting up this business which should be up and running in the next about a month or so. I would expect a good response.
On the school front we have already taken admission for our son who will start schooling in June. I have found there is lots of scope of doing business if one has a plan and means to execute it.
I will be sharing more of my experience every now and then. I will be active member once again after being away due to many reasons - slow internet connection, busy setting up house, IPL matches etc.

Good luck with it! Are you planning to jump into the business full-time? My guess would be yes- this idea wouldl involve a lot of involvement from your side from day 1. I bet you already know that :-)

Raj,

Can you kindly give me the numbers for Universal Relocations. I am preparing for the move in Nov 10. Also it would be helpful if you can kindly advise on customs duties etc which are to be paid in India(on what basis to they calculate the same/ or any idea on how much did you pay for the full container load with your household stuff) This might help me in making descision either to carry everything back to India or leave the household stuff here and purchase fresh upon relocation.

Thanking you in advance.

Yes this will be a full time business. I have already begun and I have couple of good clients from Dubai. I have also begun real estate sales/lease and I have had a tremendous response. It's only 4 days and I have more than 10 prime properties on hand after have sold two. I am only dealing in premium properties with a selected clientele. As it seems it is not only full day for me but very soon I will have to hire a couple of helping hands. For now I am doing from my home and will set up an office from Oct 1st as the office premise which I own (at D.P. Road opp: Ruby Hall) have been rented out until end-Sep

Contact Madhusudhan at Universal Relocations 1-888-323-7356. I took a package from them including customs duties and octroi. The duties are mostly applied on TVs, electronic items @15%. It will be charged at 35% for the second similiar item. My advise would be get quotes without customs and octroi and another including. Compare and see what works. In my case I had a good deal including. Hope this helps.
