Karnataka mining scam worth Rs 60,000 crore

Skimming under the surface is the mega corruption scam in Karnataka which few members would wish to be brought forth esp those who would like to point Congress or other states for BJP's failures. This corruptions smacks of old bihar style mining mafia running the mining and the the hands in glove approach of Kannada leaders involved in this.

The corruption was stinking so bad that the Lokayukta chief Hegde who launched a drive against corrupt officials practically accused the state govt machinery to be hands in glove with corrupt bureaucracy supporting the mafia. Scared BJP leaders later begged the Hegde to withdraw resignation and promised to do something about corruption.

Even Environment minister Jairam Ramesh has asked the CM Yeddyurappa to stop illegal mining in forest area. Link

Would not be too surprised if few members start throwing mud at the Lokayukta chief Hegde or poin t to potholes in other states or blame the reddy brothers alone ignoring the complexity and conspiracy of the mining mafia with the BJP givt in KN.

"This is the biggest scam of this century," Opposition leader Siddaramaiah alleged while participating in a debate on resignation of Lokayukta N Santosh Hegde and illegal mining in the state.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Karnataka has come under fire over its alleged nexus with the mining mafia after Lok Ayukta Justice Santosh Hegde resigned citing "non- cooperation"by the B. S. Yeddyurappa- led administration.

1. Mining mafia ministers of Karnataka:
G. Janardhan Reddy, G. Karunakar Reddy and B. Sriramulu

2. BJP Karnataka Mafia ministers had compelled the chief minister to stonewall the Lok Ayukta's investigations into illegal mining.

3. Justice Hegde said the deputy conservator of forests who had exposed this scam had been transferred by the BJP government.

4. Deputy conservator of forests (DCF) Gokul, who found 500,000 metric tonnes of illegally mined iron ore.

5. Karnataka CM Yeddyurappa rewards the honest officer Gokul with a suspension letter despite Hegde's protest.

6. Justice Hegde's resigns as he was unable to protect honest officials.

7. Yeddy happy that Justice Hegde was gone leaving the govt and its mafia BJP ministers free to plunder the state. His statement was "On behalf of the government, I thank him for his service".

8. Later central BJP leaders shocked that this mafia scandal being revealed attempts to do damage control.

Eerily similar is the exact amount of scam (60 K crores) of Mr.Raja in telecom scam.
Now if only reddy bros are give a free hand for a year or two more they will surely hit the century mark and raja will have little chance of catchup especially since a cabinet reshuffle is on the cards and he may be pushed into a less lucrative ministry.:)

I agree that BJP need to come clean with these mining allegations. But 60000 crore estimate by Siddaramaiah is laughable....it is a political statement thats all.

BTW..only BJP minister are not involved in mining scam...there are lot of Congress leaders as well as JD leaders in mining area and involved in mining scam. Some of the names that comes to mind are MP prakash (his son owns a mine in Bellery), Santosh Lad and his brothers (they are active both in Congress and BJP) etc.,

Oh! come on now. Sumeet is certainly not justifying or even calling it false. If you thought that BJP is clean, you are mistaken. The entire Mauritius scam started with BJP and I am sure there are plenty others. They are certainly not as adept as congress where corruption is concerned. They need to take lessons from congress to become totally corrupt.
