Nope, there's no Dhoni or sandbox or corners! Just plain old PG style blogging.

I'm planning on sharing some of the funny incidents in my life as i'm a person who sees humor even in the most oddest situations in life. I don't know if they are as humorous to you as they were to me so feel free to add me to your ignore list as i will be updating this as often as i remember them. I was planning on writing these down somewhere so i won't forget it due to aging!

Here's one that i wrote a few days ago in MV's post which i'll copy here.
This was way back in 99. It was just a week after my arrival from India. I was staying with another Indian colleague of mine. He and I were traveling back after a full day's work in my colleague's car when he decided not to stop at a Stop sign. We just so narrowly missed a pickup truck on the other lane that the driver of the truck hit his brakes hard and screeched to a halt. My Indian colleague who was about 5 months senior to me in this country, sped fast, drove into a lot of crooked streets and finally drove into a dead end dark alley. He looked at me and asked me to jump out of the car and hide into the bushes. I had no idea what had happened except that i had seen my dead grandfather for a few seconds calling me with his outstretched hands.
Anyways, he jumped out of the car too and we ran to a bunch of bushes near the dark alley. I asked him if he could explain what we were doing and his explanation was classic. His exact words were
Americans are very dangerous people. They carry guns with them. The guy in the pickup truck could be chasing us with a gun and he would shoot us, if he found us. We better stay here for a few minutes until it gets really dark and then we can leave
Now, i was sh*t scared! All sorts of thoughts ran through my mind. First few thoughts being my virgin bachelorhood, the nightlife that i hadn't enjoyed in Amrika etc. I was sweating bullets on a really cold wintry day!

So after 30 minutes of hiding in the bushes, in a 40 degree weather, we finally mustered the courage to get back into the car. An elderly person who was walking his dog around the place looked at us two guys walking back to our car from those bushes. I wonder what he thought!
My colleague drove about 40 miles to another city (in case the guy was still following us) before we got "home". As dramatic as my colleague was, he told me to put a tight lid on the whole episode until the "commotion" subsided!

My colleague checked with an American colleague of mine the next day (his SIL was a cop) if there were any complaints about any traffic violations near the infamous place.

Funny one-liners is tough, funny paragraphs is tougher... you do it well.. keep 'em coming.

"Dead grandfather with outstretched arms calling out to me" had me ROFL : )

Reminds me of Bertie Wooster getting into and out of scrapes. PG is forum's very own PG Wodehouse.

Facing the music:

During my post-engagement days, MSN Netmeeting used to be my favorite companion. I used to finish up my dinner by 7PM and get ready in front of the computer to talk with my fiance (as i was in the US and she was in India). It was such an exciting 2-3 hours as it was time to impress upon her and talk as much as i could without any parental hindrance. I used to video chat most of the time as i had the full setup which means i had to look good especially after 7PM.

It was also the time when Napster was big and music was free. There were no rules on what one could download/upload. I had a lot of Hindi/Tamil songs on my PC and used to make those CDs for the long drives with my friends. Being single meant that i had a lot of time to do anything i wanted. So, i decided to learn guitar. I got myself a new one but that was it. I couldn't motivate myself to start learning.

So, this one time, an evil idea dawned upon me. I decided to impress upon my future wife by playing a song on napster and pretending to play it on my guitar while we were on Netmeeting. As per the plan, she logged in and we started to chat about various things. I tilted my webcam towards the guitar and that piqued her curiosity. She asked me if i played the guitar and i tried to act modest and told her that "i play it sometimes" Watching SRK movies help, sometimes. :) So, naturally, ya'll know what her next question was.
I picked up the guitar and in the pretext of moving something clicked on the song "Chehera hai ya chaand qila" from the movie saagar. The song has a 20 second prelude of a nice guitar tune. I pretended to play. I made sure that i stopped the song right before the music started.
Needless to say, she was flabbergasted! She had even called her parents when i was playing and the whole family clapped and cheered that their new son-in-law was a talented musician.

Days passed...we finally got married and she came down to my place.

The guitar was in the closet accumulating dust. My wife never asked me about it as we were "busy" for the first few months.

One evening, a friend of ours called us for dinner to his place. He had invited a few other guests too and it was music night at his place. I DID NOT KNOW THAT! Damn you, dude!
My wife's face lit up when she saw the guitar and asked me to play it immediately as my friends and their wives gathered around me. The thought of her humiliation seemed to be much MUCH bigger than that of mine and i knew that my weekend was going to be HELL!
I took the guitar in my hands started to string it. My hands were shaking and in a few seconds she knew i had lied. I let out a sheepish grin and told her that i lied. My friends added fuel to the fire by laughing out loud and made jokes about how their evening had turned out to be so much fun! I was left out for a silent treatment the whole evening and as soon as we came home, the questioning started. The questions were not related to my guitar skills but to the other possible lies in our relationship. She went on and on about how i had broken her trust and how i had let her down. I felt like i had cheated on her with another woman. That was the beginning of all the yelling. :)

The next day, my guitar was listed on Ebay!

Oh! He was my colleague for 4 years. There were so many funny anecdotes which i'll try to list in this blog. In terms of his work, he was a really smart person. It was his antics other than work that were interesting.

I have actually met quite a few similar people. Nobody as dramatic as your colleague, but if one are close to one or two of them, one will hear their "world will fall tomorrow" stories, leaving one feels a little puzzled. And in all cases the people were very smart at work.

I think in our house too, there are couple of such incidents, which I use against hubby when I am loosing arguments. So looks like it is the husbands who compel the wives to nag.:)
