With the economy opening up, how is the job market in Us. If one wants to apply from India, what are the options.

Job market is opening up too. I know people in my company are getting offers from outside and we are hiring also. Most of the recruiting though is for people with strong backgrounds and through referrals.

Clarification - are you guys in the US or in India - r2i_blr and mkngtrbl ?

Pazham - from what I observe ... comps are in the process of filling senior positions (I guess you'd be in that category).
I am on the tech side in a products side. I do not know the options from India.

r2i_blr_10,

I am interested in US open positions as well. For some reason, I am unable to PM you. It shows access denied.

TIA.

The options of trying from India might vary from one employer to another based on the recruitment process. Taking my employer as an example, the recruitment process at my employer typically is tech screen + solution assignment + face to face. So you would be able to go through steps 1 and 2. If you pass step 2, you are most probably going to succeed in step 3, but you would have to be fly down here for that.

Exept for contract positions that need to filled ASAP, I havent seen any recent hires based on telephone interview. For full time position, initial 1-2 calls may be on phone, but need to do in-person sooner than later.

Bottom line, if you are serious about getting job in USA, you need to relocate first. Probably, the only exception is internal transfer

So how does it work? If I relocate to Chicago, and a NY job opens, how does the F2F interview work? Am I expected to travel on my expense to NY? Or should I only look for local openings?
