Background: Came to the US in 2004 to study, completed MS and joined IT industry, working for the same company since 2006. Married since 2007 and have a 5 month old.
Reasons for moving back: Pretty much same as discussed by other in this forum: parents, sense of belonging, kids future etc.
Both of us are working for the last 4 yrs and we have always been talking about moving back, but never had a fixed timeline in mind. After having our baby, we finally got serious about our plans. We still fluctuate between moving when he is between 2-4 yrs, main reason for staying back being building our savings. We recently invested in a 3 BHK property in Bangalore near Sarjapur road and hope to pay it off by the time we return.
I recently found out about this website and have been reading up forums, blogs, diaries for the last few days. Thought it was time to start my own diary to help with our planning. Will probably come up with more specifics about financial situation, kid's education, job search etc, but just wanted to start by saying a big HI to fellow r2i-ers out there. Hope to interact with a lot of you in the future. I was just checking out the 'groups' created and couldn't find one for R2I to Bangalore, is there one already or the 'Living in Bangalore' pretty much covers the same?

R2I to Bangalore in 2013
Hello Folks,
We are also planning to R2 bangalore in 2013. Married for 15 yrs, 2 kids - 6 yrs and 2 yrs old. Have families on both sides settled in bangalore. This is a great site with some amazing insights from a bunch of well-meaning folks sharing your R2i experiences. While we have always known that we wanted to move back to India, as we are getting closer to planning for the move and solidifying our plans and letting friends and family know, we are getting to hear a lot about how much things have changed for the worse in b'lore over the yrs. Guess we dont really get to see the dark side of things when we go on vacations for a few weeks every couple of yrs. However, now that we are micro-analyzing stuff, we get to hear about how there is so much adulteration in commonly used food products, problems finding reliable domestic help, water and garbage problems among a host of other worrisome issues. While most of us have grown up knowing all these facts, i guess some of the issues have definitely gotten worse over the years. While we are bracing ourselves to deal with these issues, we are concerned mainly because of the fact that our 2 year old has moderately severe milk and egg allergies and might possibly have other allergies too once in India. Would love to hear about people's experiences after moving back to india with kids with allergies and how you coped up with some of the above-mentioned challenges. Any inputs will be greatly appreciated. I look forward to getting to know many of you better and hope to be part of this wonderful community. Thanks in advance :-)

You may have done this already ... have you done the skin prick test for your 2 yr old? It might yield more information on the kind of allergies he/she is having. Take a look http://www.aaaai.org/conditions-and-treatments/library/at-a-glance/allergy-testing.aspx or here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skin_allergy_test
Knowing the result will help you better prepare ... forewarned is forearmed!

Hi All, We are planning to R2I in Feb 2013..
As you can imagine I have endless questions/doubts/anxiety and would like to share some on this forum...
I am basically a Mech engineer and have completed my MS here in Aus and now working from past 4yrs. I have total about 5.5yrs of experience. I have started applying for jobs through internal ref from friends and naukri/monster etc. I dont get much response at all. I try to follow-up email/phone calls and all i get is no answer/reply to emails or we will get back to you sort of answers. Thru internal ref I had a telephonic interview in Sept mid and until date there is no closure or updates from the interview although during the interview I was told I will be contacted in a couple of weeks to arrange next round.
Do you think its best to apply thru internal ref? from Aus? or after actually moving back?
What was your exp of finding a job?
