NFL 2010 season

Just a thread starter and a place holder for the coming NFL season. NFL season kickoffs with exhibitions in a fortnight.

Are Colts the pre-season favorites or will they suffer the usual letdown the superbowl RUPs exhibit ? Or someone else like Saints of last year will offer the surprise/upset? Will there be first time champs ?

Will post the poll once I gather some knowledge on most team's trades/off season workout/injury reports as I don't want to put up random top 8 as past performance(s) is(are) no indicator of future success : )

Usual NFL fanatics, post your thoughts if you have knowledge of how the teams looked in off-season.

Thanks for opening this thread. IMO, Colts should be the favorites, but have a feeling that lot of media will be after the sexy pick (Jets) due to their loud mouth coach and bunch of overrated washed-up players. It should be a fun season again and I can't wait for the regular season to begin. Hopefully, Gacchu will start the FF again this year.

Colts have consistently won 12 or more games in the last seven years. They have won the AFC seven times in a row. Ok they missed the playoffs in 2001. I am not worried,...well, unless, they happen to meet the Chargers or the Steelers along the way. Can't wait for the season to start. Go Colts!

Colts owner says they will sign Peyton Manning no matter what it costs Manning: NFL's highest paid player. Should be great news for Colt's fans as he is one constant in all of Colt's successes this decade.

Brady/Manning comparison continues in new decade but Brady's bosses weren't as generous as Manning's bosses; It could be a happy birthday for Tom

Brady has more Superbowls than Manning but he is always underpaid than Manning. Looks like Craft's show of love towards Tom is more speak than action. Crafts/Patriots, stop looking for bargain and holding Tom hostage for his loyalty : )

I don't think you can put any value on Mannning, he is always worth much more than whatever contract he will sign. If Bradford can get a $50m guaranteed contract without playing a snap, just imagine how much Manning should be worth? Also, between Manning and Brady, Manning should always be paid much more than Brady. It's not about the rings, it's who is more worth to their team. Without Manning, Colts are barely 8-8 team last year (with Manning they were 14-0, 0-2 when he rested). Whereas, Pats went 11-5 without Brady two years ago and 10-6 with Brady last year. Therefore, it is very clear Manning is worth more to Colts than Brady worth to Pats, so the contract between the two players should reflect that.

I can't wait for the regular season to start. Gacchu/Kirk, are we going to have FF this season?

Mr. Bundchen should not complain about money. It is the system created by the Pats that made him flourish and he is definetly a key factor in their success.Colts is a different story. Even after marvin Harrison left they were able to win the SB.

Since i am still in the "Inception" mode, Ms.Bundchen should advise Tom Brady on the lines of his namesake Tom Hardy who utters these words in the movie " you shouldn't be afraid to dream a little bigger darling" and fire a bigger salvo at the pats organization .:)

Eli manning getting hurt which might hamper his chances rest of the season makes me bring up the issue.. why do NFL elite players participate in pre-season exhibition games which have no meaning for the regular season? If it's for evaluating team's weaknesses and strengths, no coach wants to show all the tactics in these games, so what's the point?

RRS, the pre-season games are for the boys to get into shape and get a rhythm against real teams. Moreover these games will also decide who will make the team - rookies, undrafted blooming ones, and the players who are drafted in subsequent rounds. It gives the QB to test the mettle of some of these players and get into game speed when the rubber meets the road. Besides the coaches and coordinators evaluate the running game and put down various schemes. So this is the strategy cum testing phase which is an important phase prior to go-live.

P.S: Eli will be ok. He just had a scratch.

I run a suicide pool within my company for the NFL season. The premise is simple: pick a team that you think will lose in a given week. If they lose, you continue on to next week but can no longer pick that team again. We normally get 30 people to enter but only 4 or 5 make it to week 8. When I was in US, I failed to win it once in four years -- too emotionally attached to the Eagles. I won it last year once I moved to India and couldn't watch a single NFL game. Perhaps we can get this started here in the forums?
