Original US pasport

Sorry for a new thead but forgot to ask this in the previous
Can I send original OCI application or is it recommended to send it later alone after it is granted..

Which one is better option?

Send the original Passport only after the online status says it is granted.

I am sure you did not mean that !! After the status is granted, there is PRINTING done in New Delhi, The mailing of the documents from Delhi to whichever consulate that originally did the granting, then the receiving of the documents at the consulate.
The original US passport needs to be sent only after the OCI documents (visa sticker and the OCI card) are received at the Consulate. The OCI status ought to say that the documents are indeed received at the consulate. Consulates require the applicant to print a copy of the OCI status and send it along with the US passport. It is also advisable to send along a copy of the SC (if applicable). Procedures for collecting the OCI documents by mail are on the websites of consulates.

I meant what I wrote, but thanks for correcting me. I am sure the procedures (for sending the Passport) are documented online in the consulate site. Its best to check the site.
