My heart aches on having read this news this morning  I'm seriously starting to worry about the state of affairs in India and hope it doesn't disintegrate. Apologize, if I hurt anyone's feelings with the above statement but things are turning ugly everyday on every front and the politicians are plundering and ruining the country and do not care an iota about the citizens of the country. These ravans from Sri Lanka used to get their bottom kicked by Cholas dating back to several hundred years ago and have realized now the spineless India Govt. would do nothing whatever harm they do to India or her citizens.

State fisheries department officials said N Jayakumar (27), his brother A Senthil (25) and A Rajendran (55), all from Pushpavanam village had ventured into the sea on Saturday morning in a fibre boat.
They had cast their net in the evening and were fishing south east of Kodiakkarai coast when a Sri Lankan naval vessel approached them around 11 pm. The Lankan naval personnel ordered the fishermen to jump into the sea. Rajendran and Senthil jumped immediately. But Jayakumar hesitated as he had lost two fingers in his right arm during the 2004 tsunami making it difficult for him to swim in the sea. Even as he was pleading with the Sri Lankan naval personnel, they entered his boat, tied a rope around his neck and pushed him into the sea. "Holding the other end of the rope in their boat, the Lankan naval personnel had dragged him for a while in the sea. Later they had asked the other two fishermen to take Jayakumar into the boat and left the place," a fisheries official told TOI.
By the time Rajendran and Senthil pulled Jayakumar into the boat, he was found dead. S Vivekandanthan, assistant director (marine), department of fisheries said they were waiting for the postmortem examination report.
"According to the fishermen, Jayakumar was thrown into the sea with a rope tied around his neck and was drowned to death," he said.

OP, not even single response to your post. Why? Its because its not considered as National Issue. Nobody cares about Tamils. Forget about rest of India, What about our own people of Tamil Nadu? Are they raising their voice? They do nothing.
Unless and until we do something, Srilankan navy will kill poor Tamil fishermen(Indian Fishermen) without any fear.
We need to learn from Tunisia and Egypt.

It is all Politics. Fearing the upcoming elections, The old cunning fox, KK has talked to SM Krishna and he is sending Rao to Colombo to keep a lid on things atleast until the election is over. I have long lost hope on our political looters.
The only genuine uprising i see is from the film directors Seeman, Amir etc.,

However you slice and dice the politics in Tamilnadu. It is pretty much won/lost by caste based and bought out votes.
The only hope and solution i see is strong laws against corruption. Swift justice and hard punishments for corruption.
I don't see any common man uprising and it will be easily crushed by the power holders. If these looters get elected again in the upcoming elections, It is a big step backward for Tamilnadu.
In the name of free schemes, they have made all working people in the rural areas lazy and there is not much of farming/agriculture work happening. We are for sure going backwards. The choice we are left with, JJ is also not that good. Choose the better evil.

Not true. Common man should have courage to really stand up to these atrocities. Nobody thought Tunisians or Egyptians would revolt against their brutal rulers. Look what happened to Tunisia and what is developing in Egypt right now. Unless and until people realize and raise to the occassion, things will not change.
Truly, no one can change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves.

Contrast this to the incident where Manmohan Singh said he is having sleepless nights because someone was arrested in australia.
Not only fishermen, many people accoss India are ignored like this, but allowed to exist because they can vote and buy the products that rich sell.

What would you like them to do?
Some options:
Call for a bandh, turn over a few buses and burn them?
Or ask for a missile launch into Colombo?

The Indian government can't demand anything from the Srilankans. That will push them furhter towards the China. In any future wars between India an China Srilanka will openly support China. India's best hope is to patiently ask Srilanka not to do anything.

When there are multiple threads discussing small news/events, It is normal to expect more posts to discuss serious issues like the OP's title.
Yes, a call for bandth and uprising would have been more appropriate. The issue is not just a lone fisherman death issue. It is beyond that and it is an ethnic rivalry between sinhalese and Tamils. Can you be a bit more sensitive and stop your Sarcastic suggestions/options.

This has happened previously and quite regularly. This is not even local to Tamilnadu so no need to go ballistic on lack of responses.
I beleive this is a national issue for INDIA along with following:
Some time ago Bangladesh (yes that little country on east ..) kidnapped, tortured and killed BSF personals. Our leaders did squat.
Pakistan has been "detaining" Guarati fishermen for some time. The detainment has lasted decades in extreme cases.
INDIA is viewed as a soft state. No swift action or retaliation or even a rhetoric from leaders. Can you imagine Japan doing this to CHINA's fishermen in current time.
