Pregnant ,moving to Gurgaon- appreciate any suggestions for ob/gyn and hospit

Post by movingmom »

Hi Everyone,
Have been following these forums for a while since we took the decision to R2I from US by October of 2011 and have found very useful suggestions on a number of topics. However I couldn't find any discussions on ob/gyn/hospitals in Gurgaon and was wondering if someone could help us out. We are completely new to the Delhi area. I am int he first trimester of pregnancy and will be having the baby in Delhi. Can anyone suggest the names of some good ob/gyns and hospitals ? Via internet I zoomed in on Max hospital, however couldn't find suitable doctor recommendations.
Thanks in advance.

There is MedCity in Gurgaon. It is supposed to be a state of art multi-speciality hospital.
I don't know about Gynae.

Congrats.

I am also pregnant and looking for a hospital/gyne.
Nowdays there are lots of birthing centers of international standards in India.
I am zeroing in on Fortis La Femme and Moolchand Mothers Nest.
There is a blog about gynec in South Delhi.

(Sorry I dont know much about docs in Gurgaon as my search has been limited to docs in Noida/South Delhi)

Also, I have heard from many sources that most bigger hospitals have very high rate of C-section births. Normal births are an exception than the norm.

I am very scared because of that and I am taking my time to research.

lets connect offline and talk. Pls. pm me.

Thats correct....invariably they do a C section....They will convince you or scare you..... any way dont know any ob/gyn in gurgaon. I'll suggest if you are young and dont have any complications associated with pregnancy go with a person with good credential ( good training in a busy center) who would have time for you. If your gyn doctor is too busy invariably she will end up doing C section.

Dear R2INoida,
Congrats to you too. Thanks for your input. Yes I heard a lot of the C-section issue on these forums. That is why I think finding a doctor that agrees with your decision for natural birth etc might be key. I too am doing my research and if I find any recommendations for doctors I'll pass it on to you. But don't worry..pregnancy is a time to keep calm and not get yourself too worked up on these issues. Moving countries is stressful enough. I'm sure there are plenty of good doctors there too. As for me..this is my second child. My first delivery which was in the US ended up being a C-section anyway. So my second will probably be one so that particular issue not of concern to me. But I can understand your concern if this is your first and having to go for an unnecessary surgery just because your doctor is busy etc. But I have heard good things about Fortis La femme on other expat forums the primary point being that the doctor actually listens to you. We can discuss this offline. I'll pm you asap.

Which are the other expat forums that you have been frequenting which have discussions on Fortis La Femme . I have been trying to gather some first hand information but haven’t met even one woman who had a normal delivery at Forts. I don’t know if it is a coincidence. My first one was born through a normal delivery in Singapore. But most women whom I have met here who have had normal deliveries in first one abroad, still land up getting a c-section in India on their second child.

It cant be sheer coincidence that all the women I meet fall into this category.

I have heard good things about Dr. Kaushikee Dwivedee ( http://www.drkaushikidwivedee.com/ ). I am close to zeroing in on her. I have read her blogs also and convinced that she will be pro- normal birth doctor. Howver, my only concern is that she is in Gurgaon and I am in Noida.

Maybe you gals have found ob/gyns already, but if not, hopefully member Diva will see this thread. I vaguely remember she had posted that her mother is a gynec, and somewhere in the Delhi area.

BTW, if you'd like to, come on over to the Women's Corner : ) We can talk about babies, pregnancy, male ego and many other deep questions with lot of hidden agendas : )
