Refilling the used Printer Cartridge with loose ink.

Post by P_Jani »

As you know,
the new ink cartridges are, a way expensive,.....

Just wondered, how do you guys fill your home printer's cartridge with loose ink ?

Do you buy the universal refill kit?

Which brand?
From where?
From on-line web sales?
Is it worth ?

Any luck with those needle and drill equipments, to re-fill an empty cartridge?

Does it work well, or drip ink-drops?

Can you re-fill it more than once,.... or it loses its printing quality ?

Can you share any experiences regarding this?

I am talking about the liquid ink cartridge to re-fill,… for common use, not that expenvie, the portable house printers.

Thx.

Someone told me Costco does refiling. You can check with them.

do not go with refill method, go with new cartridge, Ebay has a lot of good cartridges, I am using HP brand,
they are packed airtight no way can they be tempered with, you get half or more off than store bought.
notice the expiry date. Heard of horror stories of printer, if the refill leaks you are killing a printer virtually.

^^

Thx. guys,.... I looked all around and after through research, and,..
also calling the related stores and price comparison, etc...... came up with this final solution once and forever.

Thought,.... may be helpful to others too, so efforts made, I am posting here.
( For my DELL v313 model printer which came with org. sample cartridges of little sample inks and hence ran out, quickly - Had paid about 23 dollars - generally it costs 50 dollars for the same printer )

* Best Buy, HH Gregg, Office depot, Wal-Mart, Comp USA do not sell any refill-ink kit for loose ink in bottles and needle/drill,.. etc. - New cartridges are expensive and not worth.

* Dell has its own make of cartridges, which are more expensive than the printer itself,....... 16.99 ( B ) and 24.99 for color - not worth.

* Only two stores sell refill ink cartridges - Staples and Costco ( Costco - which in fact, fills for you, if you brought the old cartridges )

* Staples has a kit for 19.99 – too expensive, also they say,.. you drill hole by yourself and not surety and may/may not work kind of garbage,… ( you struggle with the manu. company, if smthg goes wrong )
also, they suggest that, you can fill only once,...... and thereafter change ( buy new one ) the cartridge.
So even the bottle has more ink in it, it's useless,.... !! ( Ink has expiration date and also gets dry, once opened the bottle, so more ink is also not useful to preserve )

* Costco costs, 7.99 to 9.99 for B&W depending upon the printer cartridge’s model number

* One guy suggested this useful site to read and study, what it says,… http://www.inkjet411.com/

* Google shopping and e-bay has a beating and good deals,….. so finally find the one,…
For 4.50 the cartridge ( free shipping ) a full cartridge of ink - a new one - like a generic brand – a lot cheaper than those refill kit or org. brand.

I bought: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-Y498D-Black-Series-21-Compatible-ink-Cartridge-fits-All-in-one-V313-/260920072913?pt=US_Ink_Cartridges&hash=item3cc00c5ad1

Conclusion :
Search on Google shopping and e-bay and find who is the cheapest. ( put in serachbox, the parameter - 'the lowest first' )

Forget the stores, for buying new cartridges or the org. Makes, which are very expensive.
Forget about the ink refill-kit idea, ( expensive ) ….... though, you can also buy the same,..... from e-bay / Google shopping, ( if filling 2-6 printers simul. ) and lot cheaper deals for refill kits, are there too.

Thx all.

Glad you have the solution for your cartridge, it is a matter of getting the right refill one.
Next time I ever buy a printer will be using more like 'powder' toner cartridge without ink, that way
it is cheaper to run. I know samsung makes printer with toner cartridge.

Well,
powder toner ones, are generally bigger in size, powder also has its expiration
moreover, the cartridges are also veeeery expensive.

Those bigger machines need maintenance also very often,.......... and mainly suits for the offices and business companies.

Generally, the best bet would be to print at work ;),.... and have some average printers at home, for rough use and non-important rough printings.

My prob with certain items like - printers/cartridges, Neosporin, ointments, burnol, Advil / Motrin, Aspirin, eye-drops, Cortizone, diarrhea/anti-diarrhea medicines, canned vegetables, certain flours,...... etc is
when you have it, you do not need it,........ and the time comes, when the need arises,......... it's either died/dried/expired/bad !

Definitely go to the company and print, there is a saying back in the old world "company ka mal, nehli dur"
roughly translate company stuff, down the drain.:)

^ Lol.

Don't misunderstand me,.. but generally at the most we hardly need 2-3 important papers that we needed to print of a good quality to send it to someone, a week.

So? When at work,.. print it,.... no big deal. No need to go to a nearby paying printing machine for that - 25 cents a copy !
( iitna tau haq, banta hai,.. Re ! ( Kaka style ! ) - We have such a little right, so far ! No? )

My local library just quit, offering this free service ( 3 mos ago, due to the bad economy ),... or,.. they publically were offering free 3 prints per day, per account,
and by that way,..........by using all members' lib. cards,
we were getting 12 papers free for printing, a day to print, as and when needed, and it was quite enough,..... or say,... more than required !

:)) Large organizations may have already discounted for such minor use of office equipment and supplies. When a network printer is seen spewing out the complete gutenberg project or even a single book like war&peace, they tend to worry and consider slapping somebody's wrist.
