Buy or Not to Buy?.
Ok I have one dilemma, this is not R2i dilemma or kids? education/ school or buy car or not etc. This is little different. It?s related to Property.
I am debating to buy out one property from sibling. First I don?t need another RE. I have 3 places to watch plus my parents? home. I am not talking in terms of Rs, but just to keep a watch on these places from far distance is a hassle. So far its working but it?s not easy without any manpower back home.
Then why initiate to buyout this place?, Because it?s my wife home where she grew up. I can see she has tremendous emotional attachment but not telling me that she wants to go for it. Other side women always like to have their own place/home, she already have one in US and one in India.
Money part, definitely can?t manage 100% of offer but its 50% (split between sibling) so I think I can manage it. Old place but at prime location, and very easy to rent it out, even I personally like that place.
The million $ Question what to do with this 4[SUP]th[/SUP] RE in terms of managing. Initially we may be very happy to get a place, which is also very close to my parents? home and in same area where I grew up. And probably I can use it as a retire home, right in the middle of city. But in long run its worth it especially When you have to manage all these places? You are not getting younger day by day?My R2i is N+1; plus my situation is little different where my parents spending majority of time here, have very large family in US including sibling, aunt/uncle cousins etc. In other word many of you feel visiting India every other years, I may not feel the same way. Neither I need any place to stay if I go for R2i? Same time this is the last (property) connection/memory for my wife with India, I feel I should not cut that cord completely for her.
What am I thinking?
If we go for it, get rid off one RE, and push those funds in this RE. But selling RE is not easy task from far. Or just let it go, in that case you still come up with windfall and somehow manage that Rs in India, which is not also easy. Or just don?t sell anything get rid of Indian stk (may be a perfect time) and fund more $ and add this RE.
What would you do?

Buy it. You go through life only once.
Buy or Not to Buy?.
Buy Buy Buy !
And also sell at least one other property.
Because U said....U don't need "one more" property !......and I agree U don't.
Difficult ? Yes.
BUT, Selling is not going to get any easier with years passing anyway.....and I agree we'rn't getting younger by the day.

What would you do?
I would think thrice when I have to mix money and siblings and partnerships..
Managing RE from far is a major hassle without any relatives there to keep an eye on it..If your visits are infrequent and the ties with the relatives also grows slack then that is going to be another problem..
I would buy it if my spouse also is interested in going for it whole heartedly knowing the risks involved..I have seen the relationship between h&w going bad in a similar scenario where h was helping w's sibling but that didn't work out as planned and w is trapped between loyalty to hubby and bro..

You are thinking in terms of investment and your wife is thinking in terms of emotional attachment. You both need to get on the same page and understand the risks involved.
1. How is the relationship between you and the sibling
2. Is there is a clear division of property if both of you hold on the place like split the floors
3. Make your long term plan clear with the sibling. Either you want to buy out the remaining 50% later or you want to sell your stake
If all things with the sibling are sorted out, I would say go for it. Sometimes homes are more than investment. It is where you will relive your memories.

Buy or Not to Buy?.
This doesn't sound like complete story.
Is the sibling wanting to get rid of his/her 50% share?
Can the sibling afford to buy out the property by paying your wife her 50%?
Is the sibling desperate for the money because of their financial condition?
If the sibling also has interest in buying out the property 100%, what will s/he do with it - tear down or sell or live there?

As of now yes:))

I don't think so...
Is the sibling desperate for the money because of their financial condition?
NO.
If the sibling also has interest in buying out the property 100%, what will s/he do with it - tear down or sell or live there?
No. Sibling is also out of country.
........
This is inherited property and its on joint name of sibling and Idea is to take full control and give a share to sibling. Sibling has no interest in this property (or no source to pay other half?I don?t know) and for me its headache because it on joint name. Knowing sibling either I want to get out of this RE or want a full control.
Buy or Not to Buy?.
IF it is your wife's home, why do you need to buy it again?
Who is that sibling? Wife's brother ? And you want to buy this house with your own brother ?
Sorry I am not very clear.

My sibling is not involved in this story at all. Its wife’s parent's property and it’s between her sibling. Hope this helps.

ok , if "salababu" is not showing any interest to keep their parents's home, why the Jamai raja getting sentimental ?
Let him sell it and let your wife get the 50% share.
