Completed 9 years after R2I

Post by Rajahindustani »

Dear all
I was an active member of this forum and gained insight and had a lot of ideas from this forum during my stay in US from 1997 to 2006. I returned to India Gurgaon in 2006 (14[SUP]th[/SUP] February 2006 ). I have completed 9 years after my return. I am non IT (Environmental Engineer ) and I can say with confidence 9 years post that R2I that it was one of the best decisions of my life. I am living currently in Goa and had earlier posted about my move to Goa as well.
Sure ther were hardships and challenges but the advantages of R2I outweigh the disadvantages by a wide margin. Also note that you might not base the R2I decision on parents etc and it should be your own as you have to go through the daily grind in India. Post R2I I have built by own bunglaw in Bahadurgarh, HR near Gurgaon and bought a flat on outskirts of Mumbai (Badlapur).
Post 2000 the growth and opportunities that India provides are not possible in USA both on personal , professional and life satisfaction fronts. Staying abroad is very much a valuable experience in terms of geeing higher education and trying to get some savings at young age but after staying long time the feeling of homesickness gets to most people.
Just wanted to stay connected and inform that all is well and returning to India is very much doable and a viable option:emrose:.

It may be his way of saying that he has gone through the various stages - doubt, decision, return, set up life in India and live happily ever after. He is posting in retrospect to say "I, too, faced this dilemma and I have resolved it, you can do it, too, regardless of your reasons for returning ("Also note that you might not base the R2I decision on parents etc and it should be your own as you have to go through the daily grind in India").

I was wondering that too...but is there a separate folder/topic for R2I success stories...? Maybe that's needed if its not there already.

Why not here ?
People with dilemma may come into this thread, browse contents, have that "eureka" moment, and get their situation reduced to a mere lemma.

Congratulations and wow 9 years of successful R2I. Decade is not a far off.

I am in same profession as yours. Just wondering how your career progression both interms of position and CTC in the last 9 yrs given your point of India on economic growth offering many opportunities. Does R2Iers have an edge in this field?.
