My R2I journey - ChicagoToBLR

Post by Zens »

Hi Supra,
We are also returning to BLR this summer and my kid will be going to 5th grade. We visited Inventure Academy and Greenwood High this Jan and felt Greenwood high might be a good fit for our kid (have asked a question about the schools on the other thread).
So did you visit the schools you have listed? What is your feedback? Are you considering International schools with IG or IB syllabus?

My R2I journey - ChicagoToBLR

Post by supra37 »

Hello. I visited Indus, Candor, NAFL and GEAR. Rather than the syllabus, I was looking for an environment where a child will learn to learn. Indus International has a sprawling campus and great facilities but I did not get a good feel for their academic rigor. More than anything, the school itself is on the outskirts and would not have worked for my family. Candor International also did not appeal to me either as I felt it was a very new school with staff and management yet to gain experience. They too have a big campus and great facilities and are a little more grounded than Indus (value-wise). NAFL (affiliated to National Public Schools) was my first choice before visiting the school. When I visited the school though, the campus and principal did not really stand out. I was not allowed a tour of the school or a peek into their books/materials. This did not go very well with me. In spite of this, I was still going to go through and enroll my children there due to the NPS affiliation. However, all along GEAR kept coming up in my searches and I was drawn to that school for its non traditional way of teaching and their value system. I had even filled and sent the application form to the school but the many negative online reviews though old had kept me from actually visiting the school. Through my friends I got some second hand information about the school and was encouraged. Through this forum, I also found a very helpful couple who took a lot of time to give their feedback. That was very encouraging and I was satisfied. The school did not let me tour either. However, after I paid the admission fees on return to US, they have agreed for a tour when my husband visits BLR early next month. I'll share more information then. Hope this helps.

Supra, Thank you very much for your feedback, appreciate it very much. We have a younger kid and were thinking of GEAR for pre-school. Please post your feedback about GEAR once your husband visits. Have you short listed which place you would be living in Bangalore?
