Let's keep this thread going and share some trivia.

I learnt yesterday that the shortest war in history was the UK-Zanzibar war which lasted 38 minutes.

And HP was probably the first company in US to introduce profit sharing:

[QUOTE] 1940

  • Moves from garage to rented building at Page Mill Road and El Camino Real in Palo Alto.
  • Company pays its first bonus to employees, a $5 Christmas bonus. This later becomes a production bonus and later becomes the companywide profit-sharing plan.
  • Net Revenue: $34,000; Employees: 3; Products: 8.

Most underdeveloped countries have better GINI index ( measure of income inequality distribution) than the developed ones. I guess the poor countries have not much to distribute.

Yes, most of the developed countries have democracies and pro capitalist. They seem to be a necessary but not sufficient condition for some wealth to be created.

On a side note, a famous quote from Winston Churchill - ?Capitalism is the unequal distribution of wealth. Socialism is the equal distribution of poverty.?

I heard Dr. Carson quote Margaret Thatcher on CNN PTH with Anderson - "Socialism is great until you run out of others' money".

You are right. Virginia (state) is called the mother of all presidents as eight presidents were born in VA - George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe, John Tyler, William Henry Harrison, Zachary Taylor, and Woodrow Wilson.
