Can I quit my daily job in US?

Post by Zens »

In my opinion 75k per month is not enough to lead a luxurious life style in India. In US, the basic things that we use is a luxury in India (I mean clothes, restaurants, cars, other things) and so to lead a somewhat similar lifestyle in India one would need a lot of money. For a middle class lifestyle, 75k should be good enough. Not sure about HYD but in BLR, cost of living is more. Would need rupees 100k per month for education for 2 kids in a decent international school. Rest of the expenses depends on your lifestyle. So if I were you, I would work in US for few more years. Invest the savings (but not touching 400k that is for kids college education) in some real estate in India. Generate rental income of at-least 2 to 3 lacs per month. Then you can retire peacefully and enjoy life.

To generate rental income of 2 to 3 lacs/month, you will have to invest around 10-15 crores or more. With that kind of money, no need to invest in RE in India. Simply invest in very low risk investments in developed economies and you can pretty much live anywhere in the world.
