NADI TEXTS (astrology)

does anyone have firsthand experience (positive or negative) with nadi texts of tamil nadu and kerala for astrology? i have heard their antiquity is unknown (originally composed in sanskrit, then translated into tamil and original lost) but they are eerily accurate.

I agree with accuracy part. My exact time of death was accurately predicted.

so how's life in the heavens? any luck with virgins?

more seriously, can you post details of who, where to contact for a session. i desperately want one (with the most credible one of course for there are also many charlatans in the trade).

Google Durai Subburathinam
however...there is also a brisk business in fake-antique'd palm-leaf gobbledy-gook, that a jyodish can "interpret", as well as sell you. If an antique is being offered to you for Rs. 2000, would you buy it ?

I dont know enuf tamil to understand all of it... but this video explains how the "old" palm leaf manuscripts are produced in the villages around the famous Waiteeswaran Temple, the center for Nadi jyodish Industry.
There are a lot of tourists from Japan who go there for this. A few Rajnikant movies, a few visits to Curry restaurants, and a Nadi Jyodish interaction, with a print out of the predictions for the future -- makes a complete package trip. This can be bought from local Travel Agents in Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya and even some tier-II cities.

In my opinion, this is a very valuble service: Wealthy people believe stuff, and want to spend money on it to help some poor folks, is always a good thing.

thanks for the lovely info! *hugs*

but i am wondering where to get the authentic stuff from the authentic palm leaf manuscripts. i understand the originals are still with astrologers in TN (as opposed to being in a british museum or in the collection of a wealthy man). or, perhaps, my search is futile or fraught with too many uncertainties? what do you think?

edit. just googled durai S -- he seems to be the most authentic in this line?

the reason i am curious is because one of the most respected indian writers in english, g v desani, had a life changing experience with nadi predictions and retellings of his past -- http://professordesani.blogspot.in/2011/01/nadi-shastras-personal-notes-from.html

and i refuse to believe desani was mad! he did spend a lot of time researching the nadi texts and even brought a copy of them to univ. of texas where he taught (the copies and all his unpublished manuscripts now with unicef, united nations, to whom he bequeathed them). what he learnt more about nadi is yet to be published (UN yet to publish his 4000 pages diaries) but in his last interview (3 yrs before his death), he did suggest that he still continued to be enamoured by the soothsaying "powers" of the nadi texts.

I am not in heaven, I got a new birth as Desi, but I remember my past life. This nadi session that accurately predicted my death of my last life happened 74 years back. It was in some town in Kerala, don't recall all details of previous life.

very interesting! i guess you believe in rebirth? have you discussed your remembering your past life with scientists? it's a remarkable coincidence you got born again in india?

p.s. i am not being sarcastic. just very curious and open minded.

I do not know any scientists. And If I knew I have no inclination to discuss this with scientists. Yes, of course, I believe in rebirth. Although I don't mind discussing this on forum with members and with past members in new reincarnations.

I have a truck load of negative experiences. My relatives spent a fortune consulting reputed scholars. Who recommended what major to pick, what college to attend, what girl to marry, & when to have a child. Force poor/young widows to perform needless ceremonies to seek shanti - calm the souls of dead men. I attribute every thing to people not recognizing their cognitive biases such as the Barnum effect. My opinion, and conclusion- Astrology is all BS, rubbish. Educated people who promote astrology should be stripped of their degrees. Marks card reissued with 0 in Science. Peace :)
