NRI filing tax on portal AY17-18 need help

Post by dopey »

Hi All, i am filing AY17-18 tax online on the e-filing portal only to claim TDS.

I download excel 2017_ITR2_PR12.xls and i am uploading the xml to the portal.

i get message "Due date for filing this ITR under selected return filing section is over" as far as i know the due date is 31 July.

Please let me know what i am doing wrong.

Thanks

Correct. Filing date for AY17-18 is over. You need to file under AY18-19.

1st April 2017 to 31st March 2018 is Assessment year 18-19 (AY 18 - 19) and FY 17 -18.
So you should file for AY18-19 with appropriate form.

Yes. It is confusing. I hate the use of AY. Just keep it FY.
Wonder what happened to the proposal of changing the tax year to calendar year (1 Jan to 31 Dec).

BTW, it seems to be taking slightly longer for my E-Verification to be accepted. Last time, I did that, it happened within 2-3 days, now it's been 11 days and the EVC accepted line hasn't shown up in my return processing.

But last time I efiled, I filed a belated return. This is at peak time, so may account for the delay.

I filed returns couple of weeks back and no issues in everification. My status showed e- verified immediately.

It shows me Everified immediately too, but last year's return showed a 'Everification accepted' line 2 days after Everified. This year. I don't see that line yet.

It's been around 2 months since I submitted (early July) and the return hasn't been processed yet (let alone getting a refund issued). In prior years, my returns were processed much faster. But I used to submit belated returns, so there were likely fewer other returns to process.

Have others got refunds/returns processed yet ?
