I have a friend who bought house in USA just because he liked Vaastu of the House ..... and many people know most Apartment ads in Indian Papers , produly says "As per Vaastu"
and I know some people in India made changes in their Home as per Vaastu expecting good fortune
Is it true , if we follow Vaastu we will be blessed with good fortune ?
I wonder if Wealthy People follow Vaastu as well ?
Is Vaastu shastra connected Veda s or is it New Science ?

Sorry, to dig up this old thread. Vaastu is making its rounds in my friend circles now, and driving me nuts. "Your house is facing xyz, thats why you all got the flu". I understand a well designed work place increases efficiency, but all the claims about internal energies being in synergy with planets is all bogus. Its basically the unemployed people who can talk well - picking up some mumbo jumbo and asking you to re build a building. If someone is a good architect he will build a good building to live. One does not need an astrologer to connect lines between the sun/planets to the abstract.
Vaastu shastra
I studied 5 years of Architecture in India...There was not a single subject in the entire coursework that taught Vastu Shastra. Most of it only talked about designing keeping climate/environemnt/surrounding in picture.
This Vastu and all is a recent proliferation...a money making business for some....just like changing your name spelling for good luck. All gimmick to fool people IMO.

I had designed a bunglow for one of my cousins who altered the design because his guruji asked him to make changes per Vastu Shastra. I had objected to the changes then as it was making natural light hindrance to the the neighboring bunglow. Trusting his VastuShastra guruji more than a qualified architect, cousin went ahead to construct the bunglow. The neighbor took a legal course saying that the neighboring bunglow (my cousins) is making them devoid of naural resources. The legal course was taken in 2005 and they are still fighting it in the Indian court as of 2010 with half constructed bunglow on the site. Whenever I go there and see it, I feel sorry of its state....my poor abandoned baby..feel like its surrogate mother...just can't help it to grow..Poor Bunglow....:-(
