What you prefer as gift for birthday or anniversaries from special one?

My DH usually gifts me things I don't want or like but even with all the disapproval over a decade, he never learns :)
I prefer to get perfumes/bags/shoes/dresses/jewellery on my own but prefer getting cookery sets, pans, pot holders, bath room rugs because I don't buy them normally unless they wear out and need replacement and are not usually I enjoy shopping alone :). I also gift him giftcards to Lowes or Home Depot or Retail stores than getting him useless ties/pins or perfumes or watches..

My dearie thinks there is something wrong with me..
Does anyone think like me that personal things need to be chosen by person himself/herself and what family uses should be gifted to MOH or LOH ??

What are your normal gift choices to your loved ones?

If I have to receive a gift, I would prefer a non-material one; a gifts of time, energy and experience :)

I prefer gifts that I would not buy myself. Something that is not very useful or really not needed, but like to have. Hopefully something unique, different.
Like the time I got a Blackberry. I already had a mobile (very current). Did not really need a Blackberry. Would not have bought it myself but was pleased to receive it.
Or a new putter. Already have one, but it was differently constructed and so on.
