Membership to Clubs, Recreation Centers and Sports Associations.

Post by DoctorJ »

Friends,

I'm starting this thread for all of us to seek and share information about Clubs, Recreation Centers and Sports Associations in general. I'd like for all of us to use this thread to seek and/or share information about basic/primary membership, process, fees, amenities available and other such relevant facts.

The initial thought was to start this thread in "City Specific" forums for I was seeking information about Bangalore Golf Club, KSCA, KBA, Youth Club, YMCA etc. But then, I thought it would be of use to rest of the fraternity if these issues were discussed in the R2I forum. So, please contribute generously (with information only - no cash or kind is accepted) for a worthy cause :D.

TAT, please feel free to edit this thread to use it as MT or move this to the appropriate "City Specific" site (in which case you may want to consider starting thread similar to this in other "City Specific" forums.

Here's a club for folks who will live close to the JP Nagar area.

Most modern apartment complexes have their own clubs with a nominal membership. E.g. Brigade Group charges approx Rs 50 per month membership to residents.

#2: realentity,

Thanks for the information. Can you please provide more information about this particular club? In your post, I assume you are referring to the monthly fees for the same club. I'd like to ask you a couple of quick questions.
• Do they entertain outsiders?
  • If answer to #1 is...Yes, then is there a one time deposit? If yes, how much is it?
  • Is there a concept of life membership? If yes, how does one go about getting one such processed? And, how much does it cost?
  • How crowded (on an average) is this particular club - in terms of the tennis, squash, badminton courts, TT table and equipment in the gymnasiums being available for use?
  • How old is this facility/club?
  • How is the management - people in general and management of facility in particular?
Quite honestly, Rs.50 per month is way too cheap.

For this club Im sure they offer memberships to outsiders. Residents of Brigade Group apartments usually pay 1-2% cost of the apartment towards life membership of the club and thereafter Rs 50 every month per person. The 1-2% is included in the booking of the flat. The last time I was there, there were hardly 10 people in the entire club. the club itself is 2 years old I think. Try calling them for more details. There's a new apartment being constructed there by Brigade Group called Palm Springs. Residents of this apartment would also have access to this club: http://www.brigadegroup.com/apartments/palmsprings/index.htm

I guess...I missed the subscript (about residents) until late while penning my previous post. Anyways, it would be nice if members were to share information about clubs and recreation facilities that are open for general public.
Else it would be nice if members were to share information as to how an outsider could become a member to use private facilities.

I'm sure the White House has these facilities too...but can common people like us use them? -DJ

Is anybody from this fourm a member at the Bangalore Golf Club???
It would be nice if a forum member who is also a member at BGC were to help me and other like minded members understand the process of becoming a member - the criteria, fees (for monthly, yearly and lifetime membership) for primary membership, facilities available, benefits etc.

Looks like it's harder to become a member in one of the elite clubs in Bangalore than to be a FRCS. -DJ

MeraNaseebR2I;26374My cousin recently became a member at BGC.
I did not ask details but from what I heard, they test your golfing skills.

Your position in the business community/networking/connections also matter.

My cousin will be here in US next month. I can find out more and post.

It would be nice to hear from you...after you find out more.
